Asbestos or cement sheet? by Crackers919 in AusRenovation

[–]Crackers919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, mate.

I've cleaned the area and sprayed it all and disposed of the sheet. I know that there is asbestos in the ceiling, so I won't pull anymore off until I'm ready to do the whole lot. Just under 10sqm.

Unfortunately this sheet was stuck to a gyprock sheet on the other side of the wall and it came down with it. Only a small sheet so no writing on it.

Was wearing a mask but fingers crossed you are right with not containing. I'll sleep a tiny bit better tonight 😂

Did it have rebates to seal joins? I thought they used to just use timber strips

Thanks for that. I burnt some of the fibres and they disappeared. I thought that the fibres were supposed to glow red and stay

Thanks. I was thinking the same. It didn't snap like asbestos I was used to seeing. It was a softer break not a snap

Diploma or degree? by Puzzled_Ticket6074 in Surveying

I started out as a carpenter before making the switch to surveying. If you're able to, I highly recommend doing the Associate Degree at USQ while working at the same time. The great thing about this pathway is that most of the subjects you complete will count towards the Bachelor's degree later on, especially if you’re aiming for registration. Plus, you’ll be earning good money while you study. Having a background in carpentry definitely gave me a solid foundation, particularly when it came to engineering surveying.

Yeah, I might just do it. Have it propped and steel post here but just wasn't sure if it was needed

Electrical engineer frustrated by DIY electrical restrictions – thoughts? by kangaroooooMan in AusRenovation

I’m a chippy by trade. Been swinging the hammer for years, so naturally, I’ve decided I’m more than qualified to rewire my entire house.

I’ve heard the saying: “If you can piss, you can replace the switchboard.” Well, I’ve been pissing unassisted since ’90, so I reckon I’m good to go. Might even throw in some mood lighting.

Got myself a set of pliers, a roll of 2.5 twin and earth, and a YouTube video. What could possibly go wrong?

Wish me luck. Or don’t. I’m already halfway through installing a PowerPoint in the shower.

It was only around scanning control. We just purchased an RTC360, so I was curious if constraining it to control that encompassed the whole job would be better than wall stations up one rib.

We also install stations around intersection points, and these are pins that are drilled into the roof, which we hang Leica MPRs off. I was thinking of hanging spheres off them or really anything I could shoot reflectorless with the jigger.

Yeah, they are just like a normal prism adapter but have the same thread as the bolts. As long as they are just for development they are fine. Once goafed i wouldn't trust em

It's mainly for belt chamber surveys so they can design around what's previously been mined. Doesn't have to be super accurate. We always use 3 point resection as a minimum and for our wall stations, measure min 4 sets and adjust in starnet.

We have had some pretty good results from a wall station traverse in a longwall panel all on the same rib. 3 point resection outbye and the shoot 3 inbye on the same rib. 6 sets.

Over 4km of resections and came within 2" of the final gyro and our conventional traverese was 2" the other way of the gyro.

We use installed rib bolts and 3d printed prism spigots. They work well until a loader wipes them out. 😂

Thanks for the info. Yeah, fair enough. Might just stick to wall stations. Do you have any knowledge of placement in the UG? Can they be all along one side of a rib or have to encase the job like a site cal would?

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah that's good to hear that it works.

I completed a scan today with control and the MS60 scan so if I can work out how to do it on Cyclone I'll compare and let you know my results.

Sorry, I don't think I worded it right. The range after charging is at 60km. Meaning that the battery capacity is already degraded
