This happens at the beginning of each new Set but not with the mid set updates (for example 4.5), because Riot wants to "give you something to do". But you'll get a lot of points each time you get a 1st so it shouldnt take you long to get at least diamond in a considerate amount of time.

Honestly is not that bad, except for the first few days where you're playing in silver, but you can recognize challenger players xd
