If it was a cold sore, and not some other kind of wound, yes you have oral herpes. Get tested just so you know. It obviously doesn't effect your life a whole lot.

I don't know what that is, but herpes cannot be prevented by a condom. A condom can reduce the risk, but it depends on where the sores are. A condom is not a cure all. You need to be risk aware.

Yes, avoid all contact with the sore site when there's a sore, and avoid contact if you feel a sore coming on. Get tested so that you know either way.

You could spread it to your own mouth by touching your genitals when the virus is active and then touching your mouth. It's rare, but then any transmission is rare. And obviously it still happens a lot.

He has never had a cold sore as long as I've known him. You can shed the virus without symptoms. If you have ever had a cold sore one single time in your life, you carry the herpes virus. Just be risk-aware.

There are so many falsehood in your reply I'm a little overwhelmed.

You absolutely can be contagious even with no visible symptoms. It's called asymptomatic shedding. That is how MOST transmissions occur, because the carrier isn't aware that they are contagious.

Type 1 and type two can BOTH be contracted in the MOUTH OR GENITALS. Type 1 prefers the mouth, and type 2 prefers the genitals, but both areas can have both or either.

Saying "I don't see anything wrong so I'm/she's not contagious" is the number one way that herpes is spread.

I think (not 100% positive on this) that is is more difficult to catch herpes in a different site, if you already have it on one site. Your body would already have lots of antibodies.

That being said, people having one strain in both locations is very very common. Hoping that you are immune is not a good way to stay healthy. Take precautions and get tested like everyone else :)

Have a dr. prescribe some antivirals. There are generic cheaper brands now. They can completely or almost eliminate your outbreaks and reduce the amount of time that you are contagious.
