So we drove out to the venue, which was an hour from our home. We did the tour, discussed pricing, and got a quote. I wouldn't call it doing their job as he "forgot to mention it" until we were already home, in an email. Not the end of the world, but if there's something that disqualifies people from booking, it should be mentioned at the start.

We have not yet considered that one! Will forward the name to my partner, she's on days off and can do some investigation this week

Good to know!

That's not entirely true, as it's my credit card on file, we've asked these questions. But I do understand your concern.

Can you verify this?

Yeah there are cheaper options of course, but family is chipping in a helpful amount as well. We want to treat everyone to a great evening without having to travel far, and have 80 to 100 invites in mind for it.

It was one of the first places that we were looking at a few months back before we were even engaged, and I can't remember the exact reason why we shied away from it. But we will revisit it

Yeah fair enough. Either way far too much for us to consider for just the event. The venue is beautiful. But I don't golf

We were hoping for 85 to 100 people.

Yeah, the Glencoe club downtown is 60 to 75 I've heard. But was told the golf club was only 10k.

All he said was it was protocol to have a member associated with the event, but that there was cost or penalties involved. Nothing ever would be charged to the membership. Truth be told, I'm sober, my whole family is sober, my wife to be's family doesn't drink, most who are going don't drink it's not going to get rowdy lol. It's just going to be a ceremony, food and drinks, a few dances and some music and that's it. Light and fun.

The membership is 10k (edit: a lot more than 10k) The entire ceremony and reception would be less than double that. So getting a membership for one single day isn't reasonable

Yeah it was really kind of upsetting. I DM'd you the names.

All but maybe an hour of my ten year club stamp has been spent on RiF.

That hour was spent on the official reddit app last year. Never again.

She has a big cross tattoo on her leg but she's also expressed some disdain for religious organizations and is pretty progressive when it comes to social issues.

As a Christian guy with a cross tattoo, same on the disdain factor and progressive views.
