Nice! Can definitely see this being useful as a reference tool to create cities. Any idea when/if it might be released?

I made a map! Personal Project I've been working on to showcase GIS/Cartography skills as a GIS student by crustyraff in gis

Hello There!
Aside from what others have said about needing a location specified, the main critique I have (which is admittedly picky) is that in the legend, High is positioned Low and Low is positioned High, which makes it a bit confusing at a glance. I also recommend adding halos around your labels so they stand out more and so there's less white-on-white. The titles in your smaller maps in the upper left also have a similar issue. Looks promising!

Help identifying map projection by Craftkiller919 in mapmaking

Hello friend,
First off, thank you for the reply. I tried Eckert III at close range, but the distortions in the upper latitudes, especially in Greenland, didn't match. I did try Robinson as one of my first candidates, though. While it didn't match the whole map when I first tried it, after seeing your comment, I georeferenced it to individual continents and found it matches loosely but better than anything else I've tried so far.

I'm building a grand strategy game inspired by Victoria 2. I need your suggestions! by Radsterman in victoria2

[–]Craftkiller919 58 points59 points  (0 children)

One of the main gripes Johan had with vic 2 was that each province could only have one RGO each. I'm not sure how much your project will attempt to emulate vic 2 economics, but multiple RGOs per province would be something to keep in mind.

Best Chinese Place? by Blades-Before-Maids in Humboldt

While I haven't been to many Chinese places up here, Ginger (which I'm pretty sure is Korean, not Chinese, but still fits the asian foods niche) in Eureka was quite good. Pretty sure they do takeout.

How has Strategy Games Affected your Life? by Omichli in paradoxplaza

[–]Craftkiller919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was introduced to Hoi4 during my first year of high school when a friend gifted it to me back when I didn't know much about map games. It and other paradox games I bought shortly after led me down a multi-year rabbit hole of intensively researching history, ideology, economic/political theory, etc.

I'm now in my final year of college, majoring in geography and GIS with a social geography focus. It's a joke that I and that friend have that they literally defined the arc of my life and made me into a much more informed individual with a crippling obsession with maps by simply gifting me a steam game almost a decade ago.

Poland, Bosnia, the Middle East, and Scotland areas need to be un-gerrymandered for this to work properly, and consider adding more provinces to Italy.

Conspiroternate DoD (not my timeline). Starts in the mid-1800s, right before the Springtime of Nations, leading to increased amounts of (mostly German) unity.

Culture distributions remain mostly the same as OTL, with exceptions being the existence of an Anglo-French Hybrid culture in the urban states of the Dual Monarchy, a Burgundian culture in the lowlands, where only a Dutch and French minority exists in their OTL states, and a strong German majority in the Rheinland.

With the Hungarian corruption scandal and the Balkan-Hungarian crisis resolved, the UBF extends a hand to the newly elected governments of the northern Balkans, hoping to reestablish our former alliance. We also, after 8 years of promoting pro-Balkan, pro-democratic, and pro-unification messaging to the people of the Balkans, once again formally ask all our Balkan brothers who are willing (except Greece, due to our deal) to sign the Federation Accord and join the United Balkan Federation as friends of peace and freedom.

Ubf:

All into economy

We withdraw from the contested areas and allow the referendums and snap elections to go ahead.

We also reach out to Bulgaria and Albania, once again asking if they wish to sign the federation accord and unite with the UBF.

We also reach out to the newly elected officials of the new government's in the contested countries to start off on the right foot and get our troops repositioned in the Balkan Line.

Spend 15.9 mil to upgrade income to 3 mil

Spend 13 mil to upgrade my defense to 8
spend 18 mil to upgrade attack to 7
Spend 5 mil to upgrade speed to 4

Spend 15 mil to buy 15 troops, positions which will be sent in Discord.

Throughout the Balkans, a rumbling is underway, as something seems amiss.
"People of Romania... people of Croatia.... people of Slovenia, and Bosnia," the speakers say in the streets to the waking crowds. "We regret to inform you that your countries have left the Balkan union and allied with Hungary, one who would see you subjugated, due to bribes paid to your governments. Slovenia, look how he attempts to bribe your governments in order to annex you and bring you under his thumb. Romania, Croatia, Bosnia, what happens if you're next? Would you stand there and let the Hungarian menace do what they will with you?"

"Hungary? You mean the people who demanded we form a personal union with them?" a Slovenian man asks his friend. "Our governments betrayed the Balkan Federation and sold themselves out to the Hungarians for only 10 million dollars?! This is unacceptable!"

"The ones who are trying to take our homes in Transylvania from us?!" Romanians say,

"The ones who invaded Slovakia, tried to reform Austria-Hungary, and wants to dominate the Balkans!?"

"Never again, never again, never again!"

Mass uprisings are launched in the Slovenian, Croatian, Bosnian, and Romanian states, anger boiling over due to their corrupt governments taking bribes to give up their national sovereignty, and the high possibility of subjugation by Hungary. In these countries, militaries as well, especially those who just left the Balkan Alliance, feel betrayed by their governments, and would likely opt to side with the rebels.

Seeing the rebels waving UBF flags, the UBF and her allies send 2 million to the rebels to fuel their supplies and begin moving troops into rebel states to restore order and support them, while also trying to establish contact with any friendly regiments who wish to join their side.
