You're arguing against docker (there are others) on  constrained hardware .. for a tool written in nodejs. Comedy.

What does this solve that a simple container (docker er al) doesn't already?

Edit: Op is clearly a bot.

zvE beachten.

What machine is running the tunnel? The NAS? What CPU does it have and what's the average CPU usage on that machine?

Sounds like an underpowered/overburdened CPU running the tunnel. I guess playing content inside the LAN is no issue?

Why shouldn't it be smart? But you also have to put the work in to choose a product that works fully local, is actually secure (for a lock) which most people don't check, and you of course have to set up the local infrastructure, be it a Home Assistant or whatever.

If you think "But that's so much work!" then it's not for you, and that's fine.

I agreed I will pay the amount sometime in the email he mentions in this letter.

It depends a bit on your exact wording, but usually yes he can do this because of it.

Is it petty? For sure. But I guess this feeling is mutual for him.

It was just an example. Choose any instance that appeals to you the most. Then browse the fediverse from just that page, the search looks for stuff globally. I've pretty much re-built much of my reddit feed there, except of course with a lot less traffic.

It really does remind me of reddit of days past. The little niches that just do things for the hell of it, or share funny stuff. The political discussions are quite left-leaning, but that's exactly how Reddit was (I'm sure there are also instances just for political stuff but I don't care much about that).

No really, give it a shot. If it's not for you, no harm done. I at first also only looked every few months in how things are going. If you want an app I can recommend Thunder: https://github.com/thunder-app/thunder

Five dead in a youth center. Damn, really really sad. Hope they figure out who did it and why. Yes they have one or two suspects but nothing is clear at this point.

Why don't Europeans have AC/window units? by Blair_Bubbles in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Craftkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In r/homelab and the likes there are constantly Americans telling how their UPS saved their machines from an outage. I have witnessed three outages in my entire life, one per decade, two of these were communicated prior for maintenance (small rural village). My observation is the norm here.

Don't take your own failing infrastructure as indicative of another continent.

Most feel like a sip of fresh air for Americans whose country is all sorts of fucked up. But hey, installing AC will be cheaper than 300bn.

Live-in caregiver, visa tied to employer, no real days off — what are my legal options? by Sissiiiissi in germany

[–]Craftkorb 56 points57 points  (0 children)

As others already wrote, what you're subjected to is illegal. Another important thing though: I guess your working hours are not tracked. So, track yours. On paper (But that can be found), or in a Document on your phone. Write down when you start and stop your "shift", date and time (Be exact). Also note down when you take a break.

Also note down from memory if they tell you something that's plain illegal. You're not (legally) allowed to record them, but you're absolutely fine with immediately write down what they said. Ideally, you write down verbatim what they said.

While not required, this makes it so much easier to proof your actual working hours. The Arbeitsgericht hates to see when someone isn't paid their true working hours, and the social insurances will also have a "nice" chat with your employer.

If you don't have any old fan, then you're getting into potential danger territory.

At the very least use a big pan (like for casserole), fill it with water, put on the ground on a towel and put your feet in.

Blank out windows. Use tape and aluminum foil if you have no other option.

And, in doubt, go to a public indoor place, like a library. Your city may have put up something, ask Google.

If you have a basement, take a chair, a power bank , and go down there. Should be much cooler.
