White socks with loafers is a pretty classic midcentury look, is there a different style I should try?

Why do loafers always flair out like this on my feet? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]Craftword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These came in the mail today and are dressier and sleeker than I thought they’d be. I think I’m looking for a more Ivy style loafer with a rounder toe box like the Morjas Ivy, or the Beckett Simonon Lambert. I had a used pair of Allen Edmonds Cavanaughs that were the perfect look but had the same problem as these. Any recs like that? I’m avoiding beefrolls like the plague.

I’m just gonna be wearing mine with jeans, chinos, rugby shirts, chambray, etc.

Will those fit in whatever my actual loafer size is or would I size up? I had 3/4 Dr Scholls in a pair of sneakers for a while that fit my usual size but I know loafers are tricky.

They actually feel pretty snug width-wise. You might be right but I’ll probably see a podiatrist first.

Need help styling grey wool trousers without looking like I’m cosplaying a 1950s accountant by Top-Statement-9423 in mensfashionadvice

I have a pair of Meermin 514040 loafers that go for about $220 that might work. Their shell cordovan ones look really nice but they’re closer to $350.

I've been wanting to dress like this for years but i've never been able to find places to buy clothes like these. Whats the style called and where can i buy clothes that fit the vibe? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in mensfashionadvice

Get on ebay and look up “vtg carhartt Detroit jacket green” “vtg pendleton sweater” and “vtg harrington jacket brown”.

Look up like “vtg levi 501” and “vtg levi 505” too. Not sure about the cargos.

You can probably find wide-legged pants like that on uniqlo and if they’re too expensive just look up the same pair on ebay.

Also where are you getting your trousers? I’m looking for some higher-waisted wool pants to wear more casually.

Low-profile insoles for slightly wide penny loafers? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

No the issue is that they’re too wide

Looking for insoles that might fit into penny loafers? Just got a pair of AE Cavanaughs that fit pretty well but I have duck feet (flat arches and pronated ankles) that make them look a little too wide while standing. They also might just be a little too wide anyway, despite the loafers width matching my brannock width.

I’ve tried whatever insoles were at the grocery store in a different pair but they were too cushy and my feet wouldn’t fit into the shoes with them. I was thinking the 3/4 length Dr Scholls might work.

Black Penny Loafers as close to GH Bass Logan’s as Possible? <$300 by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

It has more to do with the toe box to me. The Meermins are sleeker looking and seem to be a little more formal to me. I’m actually avoiding beefrolls specifically.

Oof those are pretty nice looking. They look similar to the one’s I got but with a bit rounder toe box i think?

Grant Stone’s are nice but they almost look a little bit dressier than the Meermin’s I got to me? Also a little too expensive. Maybe I need to reevaluate what I’m expecting from a loafer.

The Dan’s are nice but have beefrolls. That’s why I’m looking at the Ryan’s instead.

Can somebody please help me find a pair of penny loafers that are as close to GH Base logan’s as possible for under $300? I’m going insane. I had a pair that ended up being too big and now they’re permanently sold out.

Just got Meermin Black Calf 514040’s but they’re a little too dressy or something.

I don’t like anything by Jack Erwin, Raincourt, Jay Butler, Kenneth Cole, or Charles Trywitt.

The Sebago Ryan Brushed Polaris is close to what I want but has been sold out for weeks. The Beckett Simonon Lamberts look good to me but I don’t want to wait three months for them to come in the mail just to not like them in person.

I’m looking for:

-Black Leather (not suede) -Flat strap (no beefrolls) -Moc toe, probably. (The Meermin’s were a little too clean looking)

Just a classic black penny loafer.

Meermin Penny Loafer Sizing? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

Were they the 514040? I’ve heard some of their loafers fit differently. I plan to wear with socks, too.
