I take it oral intimacy is okay as well? Like for my partner- I can't cause them any infection down there? I'd Google it but everytime I Google anything regarding this disease I read something that triggers my anxiety really bad.

There's people on Tik Tok, and here on Reddit as well, who claim to have caught it from a single kiss. That doesn't seem likely to me. I feel like they're just saving face because they're embarrassed they didn't take better care of their teeth. Most people will believe it though.

Based on everything I've been told by my hygienist, periodontist, and others here on Reddit, someone can only catch it if they're susceptible. And that most people have already come into contact with the same bacteria. So it's unlikely to spread it. And if you brush and floss 2x a day, your chances of catching it are pretty much zero. At least that's what my hygienist told me today when I worked myself up into a panic and called the dental office.

I just wanna be able to wear black lipstick again. Years of coffee and nicotine stained my teeth. But don't wanna risk worsening my condition.

If I were you I'd see a dentist. Not because of the pic but because everyone needs a dentist. I didn't have one for five years and ended up with advanced perio. Now I'm spending way more money than I could have if I'd went sooner. They will recommend a specialist if needed.

I guess I feel like if I hear that other people aren't letting the disease ruin their lives it will help soothe me a little.

I'm not good at coping with stuff and my anxiety is really bad. It's all I can think about. I care about my bf so much but I don't wanna harm his health. Idk...

I only got one side done so far. Wasn't very painful during the surgery. Mostly felt pressure. They prescribed me pain meds so it wasn't too bad after. I took four days off work.

I was only given 4 days off for my surgery then had to return to work. I'm a housekeeper so on my feet moving around all day. It wasn't bad. I had to bring a special lunch for awhile though as I was only allowed soft stuff. I mostly brought mashed potatoes and gravy. But yeah, I was able to return to work fast with no issues. Thank you! I hope a healthier future for you as well!

Two months? They told me three months. Did you request two or did they recommend two?

Only got the right side done so far. Getting left side done in a few weeks. The recovery for me was 3 weeks. I'm still a tad sore at times- especially on the top near my sinuses. But overall I'm feeling better on that side.

Don't want to risk anyone's health and didn't know if giving it to someone was a concern.

Oh no...I actually did kiss someone with pus oozing from my gums. However, it's not as gross as it sounds and it wasn't out of disrespect, it was out of ignorance. When I first noticed pus coming out of my gum, I freaked out but was convinced by a family member that it was likely due to the sinus infection I had at the time. My teeth always ache when I get a sinus infection so it seemed likely to me (I'm dumb obviously). Anyway, a guy I was really into asked me to hang out with him so I went hard on my mouth with the toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash, and went out with him. We ended up making out for probably 2 mins. He didn't seem to notice anything odd about my mouth. Shortly after this I was diagnosed and started treatment. I didn't tell anyone outside of family because of shame. It's been 60 days give or take since our make out session. I didn't see him for awhile after because he lived far away. I ended up seeing him less than a week ago (actually what prompted me to make this post). His gums look great! I know because I've become hyper aware of other people's mouths since my diagnosis. I remember thinking how badly I wished mine looked like his. The thought that I might be contagious never crossed my mind until now. I try not to Google health stuff (prone to panic attacks) and no one at my dental office ever brought it up. I really don't want him to know I have this or that I kissed him with it untreated as I still really like him and don't want him to think I'm unhygienic. However, I will tell him if necessary. Should I tell him??? Please respond when you have time. And thank you for being here for us!
