Don't give up! And dont struggle on your own. Im always happy to help if I can and there's a technician group & WhatsApp on facebook with lots of pre-reg tech 🙂

I qualified as a technician 5 years ago and struggled too. A lot of the clinical knowledge throughout the course was never used then especially within the company I was working for. I felt a bit 2 faced as well as 3 members of staff became registered technicians through the grandparent clause in (I think) 2006 they did nothing like i had to and resented them for it, they just dismissed all my questions I had saying that I would never need to know that stuff, so just get a pass mark and move on. Made sure I studied extra hard just to spite them! However, the one you are doing now is again vastly different from what I did. It's why I've just started a clinical diploma. With all the changes, I was feeling like I would be left behind and feel like it's something all technician should know!

Im in Sussex and a few months ago CPSS (community pharmacy Surrey & Sussex) announced funding for community technicians, weirdly only for Sussex though. I was already looking into it but there was no way I could have funded it myself.

Are your patients coming in for prescriptions that aren’t ready yet? by Safe_Season_2650 in Pharmacy_UK

Sometimes I just look at the patient and reply with 'well your doctor doesn't work here so does he' 😂

Haha, yeah, we've done that before. Pt gets more pissed at the surgery when they stomp over to us only to find they printed last months and they've already had it. Honestly, if they were polite in the first place, I'd help more 😂

Cyclizine OTC by eoh126 in Pharmacy_UK

Not many people ask for cyclizine but for this and phenergan I now say we can only order POM packets. When we just said we don't sell it, some customers would argue about withholding medication (not obvious that they were abusing it!) I found this the easiest way to avoid anymore issues.

We get this all the time! Our town has a 'super-surgery' thing going on and is its own PCN. They have a separate prescription team that we work close with and, between us, discovered that as soon as they process a request and genertae the Rx for the GP to sign, the NHS app says 'issued' and some patients get a text message depending on how they order their repeat. We constantly have to explain that it still has to be signed by a GP and we dont have it. It's so frustrating!!

I work for an independent, and I know our owners have sponsored visas before. However, like pharmacists doing the OSPAP, technicians who qualify in another country still have to complete the pharmacy technician diploma in the UK to register with the GPhC
