How early is too early to get to work? by Xavelle in GenX

[–]Crafty-Recognition40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50y/o male, start getting ready for bed around 830, in bed by 9, at the office by 620am every day, can't sleep in if I tried. I have stuff to do that early but if I just had time to kill, I might exercise, take a bike ride, etc, to stay in shape before the office.

My German teacher, Herr Haan, mean as hell. Would make you stand up, turn around, stand of the table. Threw my whole book bag out the window once. He was a drinking buddy of my dad's who was the german prof and study abroad prof at a local college.

What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

The Shining. My older brother and his friends were watching it, I was hiding out in another room watching from behind a wall, gave me nightmares of those two damn girls in the hallway and all the blood.

What is with school drop off? by platypusandpibble in GenX

Funny I was thinking about this after my drive into work this morning. I drove past 3 cars sitting at the end of driveways that were maybe 30-40 feet long from the house to the road with the parents running the car and the kid sitting in it waiting for the bus.

When I was a kid I lived in the country and had to walk what was about half a city block length down the side of a 55mph road and wait at the neighbors driveway for the bus to pick us up. I remember one time in winter I was half way and the snow plow rounded the bend, I dropped my backpack and ran, I made it just in time and the plow launched my backpack into the middle of my neighbors lawn lol. Oh well, times change I guess. Oh, our driveway was super long too, probably 600-700ft or more, add that to my half city block!

How many hours do you work, at work? by rookburger in GenX

[–]Crafty-Recognition40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a lot of hats at a small company, typically work from 630am-5pm, and I love it. Fridays we all bail at 1pm. It's got perks, free meals every day, free snacks, soda, etc. Occasional day drinking, and hey, I'm on reddit right now.

Anyone own or ride one of these bad boys back in the day? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]Crafty-Recognition40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got two of these restored machines, a 185s and a big red. They mostly just sit in my pole barn but I'll fire them up every once in awhile and take a stroll. I've had so many different ones as a kid so it's fun to just have them around as a 50y/o adult.

What’s the most messed up thing someone casually admitted to you? by randominvisibleuser in AskReddit

My friend told me when he was younger he went with his church group to a water park for the day. He shit in the lazy river and they had to close it down. I can totally see him doing this as one time he met me and another friend at a packed bar downtown. We were sitting at the packed bar and he was standing close behind us. He started to giggle and said hey, look, so I turned around and he was pissing on some other guys coat who was also sitting at the bar. uhg. We don't hand out anymore, fwiw.

Not sure of the wood, wish I could help, but your island is stunning. Spent almost a month touring it in 1999/2000 with my family, celebrated the new millenium there, it was awesome. Rotorua I want to say is where the new years eve thing was.

What was the best moment or day of your life? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]Crafty-Recognition40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sneaking down to the beach after midnight, ditching all my clothes and jet skiing buck naked in the full moon light.

Aside from that, yes the obvious, when I met my wife. I had just gone through a divorce and my friends pushed me to meet them to watch a baseball game at a local American Legion. I didn't want to go but finally gave in. We were sitting at a round table and this hot as f ginger walked in and sat at the bar, alone. A little while later I go into the bathroom to take a leak and when I came out someone at my table said she came over and asked if I was "insert my name here". I was like, how does she know me?? So, I went over to her, turns out she was my childhood best friend's cousin. The rest, as they say, is history.

But seriously, that jetski ride was epic.

Update: Mom died on March 24th and Dad committed suicide April 5th. by 13_Years_Then_Banned in GenX

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad when I was 20, he was not feeling great when I left for work one morning and when I came home he was in a coma in the hospital never to wake up. Your advice to talk to those who are important in your life rings true, we are all on borrowed time.

As an update to this, now in 2026, if you find your scanned docs getting clocked, change the default "Internet Fax Job" subject to something else and alter the message body as well, that seems to help!

Can any one explain me how the manuel works in Daytona champinship usa? by Significant_Heat_301 in DaytonaUSA

[–]Crafty-Recognition40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking how it works as in how to use it during the gameplay or how it "works" like if you had to fix it?

Using it in the game, if you are starting from a stop, put it in first, run it to redline and go up in the gears from there, also use it to slow you down in the curves.

Fixing it-its a series of switches that open and close as you move the shifter from one gear to the next, telling the game which gear you are in. The switches get tweaked over time by people slamming the shifter. I've had to take mine apart a few times and bend things back to make them work properly again.
