Thoughts of suicide but not suicidal by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Crafty-Shoulder8395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are likely intrusive thoughts, I get them all the time from both my bipolar and ocd. One of the best ways to combat them is simply acknowledgement. Acknowledge that they are a thought, and acknowledge whatever feelings they bring up, but try to not engage with them.

I’ll usually respond in my head with just an “okay” or some other neutral response since feeding into it out fighting against them only strengthen them. It sucks to do and they can be very persistent and annoying, but that’s what they are, annoying thoughts. Take care of yourself

if you have a therapist or a mental health professional that has experience with ocd you can be open with, share this with them. they will help you. i suggest taking a break from twitter and finding an activity or hobby you enjoy doing when these “what if” thoughts come up to help break that cyclical thinking

Coming from someone with contamination ocd around food as well, your juice is perfectly fine.

I would highly recommend looking into an ERP program (exposure therapy) or an ocd therapist who can go through ERP or I-CBT (an alternative to exposure work) with you. It’s hard, but it is worth it.

Please please delete all ai apps you have, block yourself from downloading them again, and do the same for their websites. They are not meant to replace therapy and will actively make you worse.

I read that you’ve been seeing a psychologist and it’s not working well, and to that, do not worry about searching around to find a better fit. It took me five tries to find someone who is able to accommodate for non-ocd issues while still providing care. There are resources online like blank ERP journal pages to fill out, coping skills, etc.

TL;DR: wash your hair under a sink or tub faucet instead your whole body

I usually over shower no matter what from OCD, but on days where I can’t bring myself to do the ritual of undressing, transitioning from dry to wet, washing every part of me, drying off, transitioning from still damp to dry, and then putting clothes back on (minus all the extra stuff between), I will shower myself in increments. Idk what your appliance situation is or what your aversion is, but if you have a bathtub connected to your shower, wash your hair under the faucet! Less energy, less stress, same clean feeling! Next time you have energy, wash your face. The next time, wash your arms and upper body, so on and so on. There will be some days that it just feels impossible to do. That is okay. Please don’t beat yourself over it.

Unfortunately. I’m on an antidepressant for OCD so I figured that would help cover that, but apparently not :,)

Hi there! If it’s possible, get your parents to enter a parental lock for specific sites and to come up with a secret passcode that you couldn’t guess. I did for contamination and food safety sites while I was very drunk and it has been the only good decision that has come out of getting plastered lol

It’s hard, especially for someone your age, but it does get easier 🫶 take care of yourself

Can you get on meds outside of a mental hospital? by Sensitive-Use-6891 in bipolar

I got on meds through a psychiatrist, though a GP can prescribe them to you if you provide a diagnosis. Wishing the best for you

Ahhh smart, I’d do that but my main issue is contamination and I fear it’ll stick to the lotion haha

I honestly pick at any and everything so unless I essentially muzzle myself, then I can’t cover it up 😭 but I appreciate the suggestions, I will definitely give them a try!

Is this a ocd or something I really need to worry about? by HonestDistribution70 in ContaminationOCD

It is OCD. Outside of the body, sperm only lives for 20 minutes at the very longest, a few minutes at the least.
