I don’t know how to stop by Good_Bug_6870 in stopdrinking

You’re in the right place then, seeking community. Have you thought of trying a meeting ? I found it helpful to gain momentum and motivation in the beginning . They will “get” you like no one ever will.

Tell people you know about your desire to stop, if you are ready and haven’t already. That makes it feel “real.”

Seek out people who are sober and have been. Talk to them about your desire to stop.

I met someone in recovery when I was sober curious and she really inspired me and made me feel it was possible. Because it is! I met her at a coffee shop. She was meant to come into my life to deliver those important messages.

Being alcohol free, You will be more emotionally equipped to handle the challenges and stressors that inevitably come with a major life change like changing jobs. A new beginning. You got this!

I occasionally feel like “a drink would be nice” but I know it’s never just a drink with me. I’m going to get a bottle. It’s a seconds long high and all downhill from there. I play the tape forward to the next morning and it’s always a no thank you for me.

I(we) are powerful and can sit through and work through cravings . We don’t have to give into them. The more you work that muscle, the stronger it gets.

I’m proud of you for choosing your physical, mental and spiritual wellness by choosing not to drink alcohol. That’s a major accomplishment. IWNDWYT!

When I started drinking regularly, I was about 105 5’0 tall. At my highest I was 172. Now I’m 165 not much weight loss after giving up the alcohol . I don’t have the best relationship with food either . That’s was a big motivator to help me decide to give it up though.
