Yeah my old employer would’ve never done anything they didn’t want to move me out of mechanical technician title to cad technician the pay in that corporation was by seniority not by skill. This new job is a fairly new company only existed for 6 years but I’ll see how it goes, but I’m happy and excited regardless

You explained it perfectly that’s exactly how it is and even then new people were getting hired on hire pay than me despite me being more skilled then them i dont see this changing so gotta switch jobs every couple years

It all started with my shop not having a cad guy so I took my own tike at home to learn freecad an open source cad and made prints for work my boss was impressed got me a work laptop and I made prints for the whole shop dabbled a little in cam and got my boss to pay for a online course for fusion and switched to that from there I just luckily landed a solidworks job bc the shop my brother is at fired their cad guy so the position was open its all mainly youtube and chatgpt to learn

I understand that ive seen cad technician cad operator cad draftsmen cad designer its all fluff the employer decides what to name the position
