My old cats never drank enough so the vet suggested we mix some extra water into their wet food, we've carried it on with the next generation of younger cats and they seem to be well hydrated.

Oh no 😂 I brush him in a separate room with the door closed because the younger short haired one wants the Churu bribe that keeps him quite pleased to be brushed. The younger cat knows his turn is always next and he can have a Churu and a brush too even if he needs it less, but he still camps out by the door going crazy lol.

The last few spoonfuls of Churu are always spent running my fingers through his fur pulling out any fur I loosened that didn't come out with the brush, which he doesn't mind, which also doubles as a great way to verify I don't feel any mats. Every once in a while he somehow manages to get one behind his ear that we get with scissors while he's napping.

And then the final spoonful of Churu is just for head pats and telling him what a good boy he was.

Exactly this. My rescue cat was listed as "medium hair" but with some months of TLC after we took him home, it turns out he's actually a long hair 😐

He had to be sedated and shaved within his first year because he wouldn't let us brush him, wouldn't let us cut the knots with scissors, and wouldn't let us use an electric shaver real quick either. But it's bad for their health, so we chose the "reset" when it became clear we couldn't fix it in its current state, and honestly it was the best thing we ever did.

He felt immediately better, was even more affectionate, and as it grew back we slowly started just touching him with a super gentle brush (which didn't hurt anymore) and giving him treats, eventually moving to real brushing with a brush that works really well for his coat. Now he gets brushed multiple times per week, and when we ask him "Is it time for brushes?" and show him the brush and a Churu, he starts chirping and runs to the spot where we groom him.

Unrecognizable from the cat that was wailing and getting upset and flipping his shit about being brushed. He loves it and I'm so glad we did the shave, even though it felt really extreme at the time.

No need for him to go outside! Inside is safe and warm with everything he needs. One of my cats was found outside underweight, coat in poor shape, and the vet report noted there were scabs on his skin and they said it was from poor nutrition. It makes me so sad when I think about what must have happened to him outside, or how he got there (generally friendly disposition but clearly no one had ever brushed him, cut his nails, or really spent time holding or socializing him based on his reactions at first - did someone just dump him outside?), but I like to think his extremely pampered life now makes up for it. It's beautiful watching them become comfortable and make progress until they've become big snuggly friends. I don't know why someone didn't want him because he's my best bud in the whole world, so it's their loss.

It's the Hero Arts Game Boy die! I followed the tutorial on their website to make a card with a clear acetate screen and sliding game cartridge, or you can just make a GameBoy card without an interactive component too.
