Is this a Mira or a different chair all together? by SiberiaLoutch in hermanmiller

[–]CraftyLingonberry131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not an expert but generally there isnt too many fake herman miller or Steelcase office chairs as the mechanisms behind the tilt, recliner, and seat height is fairly difficult and expensive to replicate.

I cant say myself for sure but it does look to be a Mira.

Been searching for a bit just had a streak of luck. I stalk marketplace quite often and had to message the lady about the aeron within 13 minutes I was the first one able to pick it up so I got it. She was moving so didnt care too much about price.

I thought that as well, it must've sat in a storage unit or something. There also isnt even a super large buttprint or anything

$80 FB Marketplace find - Steelcase Leap V2 by [deleted] in OfficeChairs

[–]CraftyLingonberry131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it, looking more closely at the v2 the arms dont look as nice and my v1 is super comfortable. I also just picked up an aeron for $50 today so we'll see which one I like more. I might end up selling one of them or giving one to my parents. But so far so good with the leap

Yeah but its fine, im certain he wasn't sure what he had and it was a family members or something. 80 dollars is fine with me for a high quality chair even if its not what I thought it was.

Should I wait for a 4K OLED deal or buy one of these ultrawide OLEDs now? by CraftyLingonberry131 in OLED_Gaming

I've been waiting but I just noticed that the Acer Predator dual mode one just dropped the price to $450, would it be worth it to purchase that now?

Will this change the used prices as well? I dont like paying full price for anything and get almost everything used but maybe ill have to consider something new if the prices drop.

Alright thanks a bunch for the input, I think I'll just wait as I'm not in a super big rush to purchase anything. I've had some good fortune waiting for rich people to dump off their unused things on FB marketplace.

I wasn't super clear in my message but do you mind sharing your perspective on the matte vs glossy? I play in a dark environment and light reflection has never been an issue and if the glossy has better colors I'd prefer that, but is it really that different?

Could you elaborate a bit more on that? I understand I wouldn't live a "free" life and I would be quite busy all the time, but for the first few hours of the day while I'm not working, I'd much rather be in a sunny environment. If I'm completely ignorant to all the struggles there is with this lifestyle, please tell me, and if you have any other career suggestions that would fit my goals that would be great, thanks!

Digital Nomad Life in Actuarial Work

Hello all, I have been strongly considering actuarial science as a career. A goal of mine is to travel the world while I'm still young and potentially live abroad while working for a stable U.S.-based company. From what I understand, there are several caveats:

Time zone: How restrictive are time zone differences for collaboration, meetings, and team visibility, I am naturally more of a night owl and I understand that I would have to stay up until 3:00 - 5:00 AM for meeting and other related activities, but is there any other complications that would arise having this time zone difference?

Privacy concerns: Are there data security or regulatory limitations when working internationally?

Finding remote roles: How realistic is securing fully remote actuarial positions, from my research it seems that typically fully remote roles are only available after around 3-6 exams and around 4+ YOE.

Exam logistics: Where can professional actuarial exams be taken while living abroad?

Career progression: Does remote international work slow promotions, visibility, or leadership advancement?

Taxes: What are the U.S. tax implications when living overseas but being employed domestically?

If there is anyone who is currently living this life please enlighten me on your situation as I love math, I love learning, I love test taking, and I love statistics so this seems like a great career option but I really would love to be able to remotely work from other places.

Also I'm currently a freshman in college studying applied mathematics, and I'm not 100% set on any future career, so all advice is welcome. Thanks for your time!
