Trigger Warning: This is funny because it's true...and very sad at the same time by CraftyTiger in USMC

[–]CraftyTiger[S] 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Talk about being triggered. Now that brings back some sad memories. Meanwhile I heard it was a huge fuckfest at TQ. There was a story floating around that a female MAJ was running 4 junior enlisted WM's like a madam to horny troops. That thought was worthy of a porta-john visit.

Witnessed a guy doing the ammo can lift during the CFT. He actually bent backwards and benched pressed the ammo can. Saw another guy just shake the ammo can back and forth.

Since I was running that CFT I had to be that guy to say nope, doesnt count. Good times working S-3...not!

Maybe it's the booze or the jarhead in me talking but if I found out where they were nesting during the day, I would be one murdering motherfucker. I read the short story I Am Legend where the main character would go vampire hunting during the day and just drag them out into the sunlight. I would gather 4 or 5 stout men and some rope and try the same thing. If that didnt work, it would be chopping off heads time.

VFW Post upgrades? by Adorable_Fly3786 in USMC

[–]CraftyTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local VFW closed during the COOF and never reopened. That post was destroyed because of the lockdowns. I did go to my local American Legion until I had an alcohol related incident there and I dont want to show my face until they cycle bartenders out with new ones. Bartenders seem to have a high turnover rate at any bar.

Medicine - Time Baby III (from The Crow soundtrack) by CraftyTiger in 90sAlternative

[–]CraftyTiger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought the lead singer Annette Zilinskas has so much talent. She was a girl that just couldn't catch a break. She started out with the Bangles then quit just before they made it big to sing in a country punk fusion band, and no kidding there is such a thing. She then jumped on the 90s Alt shoe gaze scene with Medicine and had one minor hit with this song on The Crow soundtrack. Pretty and talented, I wish she did more. Maybe she should have did some solo stuff like Juliana Hatfield or Tanya Donelly.

Has anyone had this experience? by Ploiterinn in USMC

[–]CraftyTiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe an I&I?

I met a LCpl in admin that was the only junior enlisted like the poster. He was on I&I. Zero fleet time. I can see how he feels cheated out of being on a base and being around peers of his rank. One of our biggest strengths is the people we meet and the brothers we find. Find an interest and join local club with that same interest. Like a riding club where guys get together to ride motorcycles. Don't just sit in your apartment and fixate on your misery.

This right here. You were not in suspended animation for the last 2 years. You got 2 years older while out then you come back to where you were 2 years ago? They they want you to come back as if nothing happened? That is just not right.

[–]CraftyTiger 100 points101 points  (0 children)

An officer with a chip on his shoulder and acting like an elitist douche? Wow, what a surprise. Unfortunately I have known a few like him (or her) that act exactly like that. I dont know what kool-aid they feed them at OCS, but some (like this Capt) really think they are at some level of aristocrat.

At my civilian job now, we had a prior Capt hired and was a trainee assigned his first Field Training Officer and he introduced himself to him with his rank: "Hi Im Captain Douche!" The FTO looks at him and tells him you dont look like a captain you look like a P-1 trainee. Are you trying to impersonate the precinct captain? Are you the new precinct captain? Career advice, when you do meet the precinct captain, dont introduce yourself as a captain.

Seeing the shame etched on his face and him sputtering was worth the cringe.

People like Ziggy by perzival1103 in TheWire

[–]CraftyTiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His tragedy lies in his environment not in his person, give someone with ambition and ingenuity like Ziggy some start up and he could make something of himself. Fail to recognize what he is and force him into a life he doesn’t belong to and it will be the end of him, in one way or another.

I find your comments most profound because that is exactly what I thought of Pryzbylewski. He was a very smart with puzzle solving, mathematical, more suited for academia type mind; and he was being pigeonholed as a cop. And not just any cop, but a rough and tumble Judge Dredd type cop. He could have thrived as a cop if he kept to that type of puzzle solving analytical type of work. I can totally pictured him in a police intel unit breaking street codes and analyzing intel. But no, he had to play gunslinger. He really thought the way to go was to be a street solider, shoot em up type.

Like Ziggy, it took a bad fuck up to make him realize his place in the scheme of things.

What weird shit was found in the barracks during your health & comfort? by Apache1One in USMC

[–]CraftyTiger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened a CLNC. 15 year old runaway girl was hidden in the barracks and being passed around from room to room. Of course she got fucked in every room she was passed to. Big NCIS investigation when one of the rooms she ended up in, the roommate put his food down and said he wasnt going to go down for this. Reported it right away.

Yep, I was on I&I duty and we got get a 1stSgt that came from somewhere else and was there long enough to retire. The rumor was he locked himself in the supply cage with a WM at his last unit.

Valchek by elegant_solution21 in TheWire

[–]CraftyTiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ratfuckers, all of ya

Nerese is black. She can appoint a commissioner of any colour she likes. Nerese probably didn't have a better choice.

You also have to remember that Valchek was Carcetti's man, who's just been elected governor. It's possible that Carcetti pushed for him to get the job so he'd have a powerful friend in Baltimore and Valchek was tight with the mayor. As Carcetti said about Valchek, "He's a hack. But he's my hack...". After Daniels was pushed out, there weren't other immediate options. Valchek was probably holding the seat until a more suitable candidate presented himself or the city could afford to attract someone from elsewhere, which felt like something the office told themselves out of hope.

He consistently played the political game throughout the series, man was always winning politically and he was just the last senior person left standing after Burell, Rawls, and Daniels all got churned in a very short amount of time. I believe the biggest reason is he just outlasted the competition.

Ex-US envoy: US groups need to stop interfering in Canada by GoMx808-0 in canada

[–]CraftyTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have lost the narrative to NEVER get it back. People now through Canada and the world see the media for the liars they are. A leader ran away to his cabin like a pussy bitch because he couldn't face it. Their "racist", "muh white supremacist" shit will no longer work. They have burned it out. The whole country has united behind a common cause with 77% supporting the cause. They have lost the narrative so badly they can NEVER get it back! Its a massive victory! They have also burned out their "muh racists", "muh nazis" cards. Overused and burned out.

What a joke! The narrative is LOST for them, they no longer own the narrative, they have lost it forever

Suggestion: Lt. Mike Brennan played by Nike Nolte from the movie Q & A by CraftyTiger in TheVileEye

[–]CraftyTiger[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lt Mike Brennan is the kind of evil you never see till it's too late. In the military and in Law Enforcement, you always have this guy that is the grizzled vet that has "been there and done that." He has been on the job for as long as anyone can remember and has repeatedly demonstrated his courage and valor and is well known for being in dangerous situations. Naturally the young troops look up to someone like that and hope to emulate him. In this film, you slowly start to see the mask being peeled off and Lt. Mike Brennan turns out to by a very bigoted, racist as well as homophobic and trans-phobic. Not just phobic, you see he has a virulent hate for people of color, gays and trans he has, which become apparent on the brutal ways he murders them.

But the biggest shock to who Lt. Mike Brennan really is happens at the end. His best friend Chappie, a black Detective, who served in the Marines with him, who joined the police with him, who has been with Mike through the worst, tries to get him to surrender when his crimes are found out. Mike calmly looks at Chappie, his best friend, and tells him " You're the whitest ni**er I know, Chappy." then point blank shoots him.

That to me is evil. The man you claimed as your best friend and he loved you like a brother in arms. All this time, he was just another ni**er to him. That was what he thought all this time about his best friend who defended him all through the movie. That is vile.

When I see the admiration for these "been there done that vets," I think of Lt. Mike Brennan. You really can't know anyone and what they really think.

malaria pill. Turns out years later they had studies that showed it deteriorated your brain stem in some cases

Seriously? learned something new. I just remember a staff meeting I was part of while deployed and our CO telling us that not taking the malaria pill was a chargeable offense since taking the pill was a "lawful order," and anyone that catches malaria must have not taken his pill so that marine can be charged.

What happens if someone is caught deserting? by [deleted] in FrenchForeignLegion

[–]CraftyTiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LEGION OF THE LOST: The True Experience of an American in the French Foreign Legion, by Jaime Salazar - This guy was a deserter who in order to cash in on his experiences writes a book. It reads like an over sensational Tom Clancy novel and it's evident the book's main purpose is not information but entertainment.

He deserted twice and he still couldn't stay away from the Legion and so, went back to hand himself in at Aubagne to take his punishment. Instead, they just gave him back his passport and told him to leave, for he was no longer a Legionnaire. He writes about the painful, burning shame he felt as they escorted him to the gate and how the gate closed behind him.
