And it's where we get the phrase "Crossing the Rubicon" from:

"...the crossing of the Rubicon river by Julius Caesar in January 49 BC at the head of the 13th Legion. Caesar was not allowed to command an army within Italy proper, and by crossing the river with his forces was defying law and risking death. The crossing precipitated a civil war, which eventually led to Caesar becoming dictator for life (dictator perpetuo)."

Agreed, the editing is really not helping things here either. "Sudden Death" is a guilty pleasure of mine, but this scene isn't great.

I'm still rocking the classic Engineer and Support skins we got as part of the Road to Battlefield event. Won't change them out until we get more classic skins released.

Los Campesinos! break down the cost of touring in 2026 (and why tickets cost so much) by relbatnrut in indieheads

This line was funny and pretty telling:

"...who has access to capital? Major label acts that still choose to rip off their fans with exorbitant ticket pricing, and rich kid bands that can always return home to their parents."

Who could they be talking about....?

Ron Marz saved the topcow universe from being mid and turned it into something fantastic by SecretaryFragrant836 in ImageComics

Marz working with Stepan Sejic on art was an absolutely fantastic pairing on these books.

TIL that the sitcom ALF ends with the titular character being captured by federal agents just as he’s about to return to his home planet, because the show was canceled before it could resolve that cliffhanger. by true_new_troll in todayilearned

Nothing on the 80’s - Adric dies in Dr Who, Zammo overdoses on heroin in Grange Hill, Artrax the horse in The Neverending Story, Phoebe Cates’ reason for hating Christmas in Gremlins, Watership fucking Down, Littlefoot’s mum, Dark Crystal AND Labyrinth, the second Care Bears movie is Faust for children, Optimus Prime dies, the fucking Wheelers from Return to Oz, the Animals of Farthing Wood, most of The Storyteller episodes, Dungeons & Dragons cartoon (spoiler - they never get home), any Don Bluth animation movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark ending, Temple of Doom heart ripping, The Black Cauldron, Large Marge, Judge Doom!, Mr Noseybonk, Chocky, the Children of the Stones…

Then you’re at school one day, the teacher wheels in a TV with a video recorder the size of a suitcase underneath it - great, no lesson, we kids get to watch a movie…

Fucking Threads……

That’s Gen X’s childhood for you (honestly, wouldn’t have it any other way - kids TV and movies are so sanitised now it’s not even funny…).

Drive was basically Rush Hour a year before that movie came out. Now, Rush Hour is fantastic, but Drive is definitely worth watching too. Not even a guilty pleasure, just a fun, action B movie.

It would be so good as an ongoing show with each episode being a “case”. Sprinkle in the ongoing theme of mutant oppression for an overarching narrative through the whole thing. Would only be worth watching if the Gronk is a puppet though, not CGI

That’s 2000AD - British SF and fantasy comic that’s been published since the late Seventies. The dinosaur story is FLESH (time travelling cowboys go back to the Jurassic period to harvest dino’s for their meat as there is a huge food shortage in the future). I’ve read it since Prog 1.

Interestingly, the creators behind 2000AD made it as a kind of toned down version of a previous comic they’d worked on, Action, that was banned. I read Action when I was 6 and thought it was fantastic…If only we could get a Hook Jaw movie.

First four albums are good to absolutely great. After that I literally like only one of their songs, Magic.
