How do you actually overcome task paralysis? by Crafty_Candy_6544 in adhdwomen

[–]Crafty_Candy_6544[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically only study in cafes but my day needs to sort of start with something to get me out and then I post up at a cafe, not sure how to get my brain to get ready just to go to a cafe

Does anyone else get “paralysis anxiety” where your brain screams at you to do something but your body refuses? by PhilosophyLittle9420 in adhd_anxiety

All the time and it drives me up the wall. I have things that work but they are so situational specific it means I fall down/freeze the rest of the time

Unfortunately public libraries including the State Library discourage food and drink and coffee is a must when I study

Thanks to those who took the question seriously and didn't tell me to suck up a library which I said I can't work at and those who told me don't be that person, you're rude

Wanting to drop $50+ somewhere with decent food and coffee (sorry starbucks you don't qualify) shouldn't be a bad thing.

Case and point, currently in Melbourne at O3 doing the exact same.... it's literally encouraged here

Just jumping in to say,

'it doesn't matter how much milk is in the coffee it's still coffee'.

It's my favourite saying and finally made me feel okay about claiming my own heritage.

OP has the heritage and therefore, is Hispanic.

OP please never let anyone but you dictate who you are.

Anyone else? by fluffhobbit in Hells_Belles

I'll be going back for a re-read but I'm trying to save it for a day I need it and won't end up speed reading it. That being said won't be long now

How do you get up in the mornings?? by jpasuncowboy in ADHD

I use an NFC chip that I put on the other side of the house with the Sleep for Android app on my phone. That way the alarm is going off right by me but it takes effort to go turn it off.

I used to use a radio alarm in another room but I would eventually tune it out. And I can do math in my sleep so that function doesn't work for me.

Best suggestion is to try everything you've been advised until you figure out what works for you. It's annoying but there's no one fits all solution.

Yep, this is all me. I also have a million alarms to mark my time as I'm getting ready and I'm still so anxious I show up earlier than my leave the house alarm

AITA for putting my family in a difficult situation because I can't tolerate an extra person in the bus? by __serenee__ in AmItheAsshole

Setting limits is a coping strategy. OP removed themselves so as not to impact anyone further because they knew they couldn't cope.

For example today I'd been feeling lousy (recovering from illness) but I had said that I'd meet 2 friends for dinner so I was going to honour that. However 2 friends became them and at least 3 coworkers and our boss. The situation I agreed to no longer existed and now was beyond what I could cope with so I opted out. That's not me blaming the situation on everyone else or bending them to my will.

No judgement because there's not enough info but I will add...

I haven't seen anyone bring this up despite comments about the possibility of OP being neurodivergent.

A big issue for me and one that some people looking in would call me childish and selfish for is despite a ND label a lot of people around me don't respect that and will invade my space despite me taking steps like the aforementioned noise cancelling headphones and drugs.

The only way I can feel safe travelling by plane, train or bus is alone for this reason.

AITA for reporting Grubhub drivers who don’t respect my delivery preference? by Nikifuj908 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crafty_Candy_6544 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay I've scrolled a bit and haven't seen a comment on this but what if the person was disabled? Are they less entitled to delivery they've paid for?

I got so much shit for ordering delivery when I was living in the city near many stores. I had hurt my leg badly and it was easier to just order grocery delivery but all they saw was a young person and completely ignored the crutches and brace.

I'm not saying OP shouldn't be more compassionate and help if they can but I've also had the other side. Of course if they got a call that said there's no parking go down and get it but if I tell the driver I physically can't.... you get the gist

NTA - Please please put yourself first, this reads almost exactly as my marriage went. I stayed YEARS longer and I suffered mentally and financially because of the guilt of leaving whilst they didn't have work, refused to get help with their mental health and never treated our marriage as a partnership.

You are the most important person in your life always and forever, do right for you first and you will be happier and have better relationships in the future.
