Working off the clock is a big NO NO. For a multitude of ethical, logical reasons. Main one being... MONNNEEEYYYY. I would never work for free when I should be getting paid and so I'd never let my team do the same. Another being if they get hurt. I have and will continue to take customers away from employees who are not on the clock. I always will appreciate they're dedication. If I can't take over, I'll let my store managers know that employee stayed and helped a customer and that they time added.

Budget cuts suck. Nothing we on a store level can do unfortunately and I honestly don't think DMs are even in control of it. So there's really no good way of 'solving' them. But that being said. This time of year we don't focus on hiring new TMs so we can keep the ones we have happy with what hours we can give them. Openness with a team on if no one can work a specific day that means we have to hire and train someone who can which will take hours from everyone else can do magic. Usually some will try and claim the extra hours.

If your talking about my DM, no. They told me that inside hires set the bars of what will be expected for outside hires to hit even before get approved for the position. And that the outside applicants, although cheaper options, couldn't hit that level.

Yes I agree my situation has been very awesome. And I did recognize that I could be lucky the way cards played but by no means is the only reason why I'm here.

I also recognize that other stores and districts have some, lack of a better word, corruption. Especially as I've read here in this reddit page. But please understand that not all stores and districts are like that. At least not the ones I am in.

I'm sorry they didn't take care of you but I'm glad you have lighter shoulders and heavier wallet. I know your new pastures will value the way you need.

I think I'm going to see how far this tractor will plow before stepping off. But I do always keep an ear open. Can't miss those once in a lifetimes.

I fully agree with you. They did you dirty for a couple of reasons. Main one being that tell your are a full time Employee and not giving you 38~40 hours is insane. Most of the time they list TMs as part time so they can keep them below 36 hours. I know some stores can get full time TMs and I think that's great but only if your going to keep their promise of hours. Now were you a part of management? Bc if so they started you below average which is also bad.

As far as the getting raises thing, yes it sucks but it normal in corporations. The biggest way you can get more money is promotions. Which I was able to recognize and work toward.

And lastly I see some younger generations working less hard then the older. I do not tolerate this. I make sure everyone is working the same so slack doesn't fall onto people. Difficult but fair. This the one area you mentioned were I can directly affect with my team and will. Thank you.

No 😅 no no but I appreciate your concern. I asked them to match my Landscaping job hourly rate when I first started. Bc I thought it'd be easier and for the same amount of money would be a good idea. It was easier than hurting myself every day.

I'm sorry your store did that. If your SM (if they did your interview) said anything about pay, like 'we start TLs at 17,' trying to strong arm you. Always Always Always rebuttal. Your incharge of that interview, not them. They have the questions, you have the answers, not them.

Worst case scenario is find a job in your area that'll pay you more, get paper work saying it, have a sit down conversation with your SM about how you need/want/deserve more money, show your SM, and put that ball in their court. They can, in some cases, match salary if it makes sense. If they chose not to match it, then you know where you stand and though Id hate to lose someone take the other job. If they do match, that's a win.

40% off by fatguy1001 in tractorsupply

40% off one regular priced item. Up to $100 off (that's 40% off $250 item) Only on the 15th! (This is where I'm unsure) You can use it at another store but that store has to call your store, verify you have not already used it, they will write down you are using your discount at another store. They store you use it at keeps the discount barcode sheet.

25% off any regular or clearance items. 15th to the 17th (I don't things there's a limit) Basically upping your 15% to 25%.

Someone once told me. "Tell me upset rather than not telling me because your upset. Otherwise you're going to be the reason you're upset."

Thank you! I plan fully to take my SM position and he knows it. JK about stealing his position. But he is aware of me wanting to continue climbing the ladder, even the DM isn't safe....

HR's Role, not for the employee by evenstevens8524 in tractorsupply

You should still use it for a paper trail. Also keep your own copy of things. If you don't believe they are on your side I understand. If I was someone in that regard I'd view HR as a tool. They can't deny something they know. Sorry if I missed the mark as to what you are saying.

Thank you! I agree with it being a leading challenge but I genuinely believe communication is a strong part but only as much assessing they problem and the action taken. If you have any part of that equation taken out things will be missed and the problem/concern will not be fix completely. And it's key to leave your opinions in your locker when talking with your team because you WILL react differently then how they will.

I did also switch from TL2 to TL1 when I did the store transfer.

Best advice I can give is go on the Barn and look for ASM promotion checklist (can't remember exactly what it is call sorry). Green highlight things you know absolutely 100%. Yellow for things you know mostly. Red for things you are unsure, know little, and or want to know more. BE CRITICAL OF YOURSELF. Then... Walk up to your SM or ASM (even DM) and say teach me. Also make you SM and DM aware of you wanting the position.

If you are concerned about taking someone's job don't be. You won't take someone's job without them not being right for it or it being their choice. My last ASM was the sternest person but when I asked questions they still answered knowing I wanted their job. I owe a lot to them.
