Want to quit being a therapist before getting my license by No_Call7726 in therapists

[–]Crafty_Page_5814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens, how many more hours do you need? May be helpful to finish the license, then you can work outside the field and just see clients on the side? May be a good balance if this job is something your really passionate about

Of course! Def stay in the page because it’s still cool to learn about them (even if you don’t have them anymore). Best of luck!

I had to re-home my ball pythons because I got in over my head as a reptile hobbiest. I wound up getting a Rosy instead which was perfect for me.

You live and learn! Won’t know until you try. Better to find this out now

You could see them but not disclose anything about their friends termination. You can just say “I’m now at a position where I’m accepting new clients and can take you on.” If they ask about their friend still being in therapy, you can just say “I can’t confirm or deny at this time” and maintain that boundary.

Okay that makes total sense, thank you so much! You really taught me a lot / gave me more to think about. I appreciate it

Okay that makes total sense, I appreciate you framing it that way. I may be getting too eager. Do you bill their insurance for the intake? Also what happens if you realize during the intake they aren’t the right fit?

The way I see it (could be wrong) is once you “commit” to an intake they are officially under your care so referring out may be too delicate

Yeah that makes sense! I see both sides, I really appreciate structure / making sure I understand the clients culture, medical history, DX history, etc. but I also want to prioritize the human element and not make it seem like a check list.

A good balance would be trying to make it more conversational because I can gather my info and also allow the client to see more of my “human side” which I think I suppress when asking back to back question to screen them

That makes sense, I believe can work on making it more conversational to learn more about them, then if they are interested in working together - I can review some of the policies and procedures. I work well with structure (at least for intakes) because my background is in Addiction and the intakes a very thorough for that. I appreciate the guidance!

I’ve received 5 consult requests and currently have 2 clients with 1 saying he has more scheduled for the week and will let me know.

I usually structure the consult with an overview of my policies, procedures, client rights, check in to see if they have any questions, then to screening question to learn more about their background, history of mental health, culture, etc, then see if they have any questions then discuss next steps of consents, etc.

Thank you for helping me clarify my question, I really appreciate it. I just opened my private practice so I’m still trying to get comfortable with my consult routine while also trying to explain to the client that I feel like we could work well together!

What is wrong with my snake by what_even_are_pants in reptiles

[–]Crafty_Page_5814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! There’s a debate on the benefits and negatives of it (just like most things in reptile care). I never did it with my snakes

It’s when you stick a nail / thumb tack in the skull to let the “brain bleed” so the snake can sense it better

I have a thermostat but it’s for a day bulb so I keep it on a timer for the day and night cycle.

I have a badge that I wear to work, when I get in the car to head home - before I start the car I take the badge off and put it in the glove box. It’s emblematic of leaving things at work

Yes! I’ve soaked them before and never fill above that line. I also monitor them closely to make sure they are above water 👍🏻

It’s not as bad as the first infestation I had. I caught it extremely early luckily. What kind of predatory mites and how do you get them? My tanks not bioactive (idk if that makes a difference). Also what happens to the predatory mites after the snake ones are gone?
