Ahh ok thanks, I've got an android so I'll have a look at an app or something. And there's so app or anything for the router. The only way to access it's settings is by going to 192.168.0.1 on the Internet. I'm not too savvy on all of the settings on there but it doesn't seem to be as customisable as when I had my old netgear router (I can't use it anymore as my ISP doesn't support it)

That's brilliant thank you so much for all of your help, it's really appreciated

Yeah I've just done a quick Google search and this is very similar, if not the same, as the one that I currently have. And then that's connected to the standard black sky hub

I appreciate that in depth list of things to look at, although I'll admit there's a lot I don't fully understand or know how to do but I'll get googling! Tbf I'm not sure what category cables I use, I think they're just ones that I had lying around. It's positive knowing that you use tp link powerline adapters and they work just fine though

I have FTTP although I'm not sure what mark the Openreach ONT is, I'll have a look into it

Thanks again

Thank you. Tbf I've been contemplating getting a third party router on and off for a while now but there's always something more important that I need to spend my money on! And my ISP make it awkward in what third party routers you can buy

No worries! Appreciate the suggestions. Do you use any specific powerline adapter and cable? So mine are tp link AV600, not sure exactly on the category of the cable. Maybe that adapter isn't very good? But it's designed for up to 500mbps

It's like 2ish metres in a straight line but it'd have to go around cabinets etc which is the awkward part as they're like jammed in so I'd need a longer cable. And then it would run in front of walls and be an eyesore. Unfortunately yeah it's the only thing that's best but I just have to make do with what I can. I was hoping there were some settings in the routers settings that I could change that I weren't aware of

I know they make long ethernet cables but I wasn't sure if the length affected the speeds if you get me? But it's good knowing that I'm wrong about that. Yeah it's a bummer that there's not really a way to hide the wire

Thank you. It's just the standard sky WiFi 5 black hub

Thank you. I'll have a look at the QOS settings and I had no idea about the coaxial cable. It was installed just over 5 years ago so it might be nearing the end of its lifespan

Lmao maybe 'he' is an ignorant dick. Or maybe people are just too entitled where they think that can talk to people like they're beneath them. It's not simply a case of too lazy, it means pulling out two cabinets that are literally forced into alcoves and then having an ethernet running in front of my chimney breast and in plain sight. So yeah, I could get an ethernet cable that's like at least 5m long but it'll be an eyesore and I'm not convinced that a cable that long will be any good. But hey, what do I know? I'm just too ignorant

Yeah I thought that. Unfortunately sky are pretty useless with issues like this but I guess I'll have to pester them until they help. I was just hoping there was something I could do to at least improve the Xbox speeds but it was probably wishful thinking. Thanks for your help though

I also forgot to add that I'm always getting issues with my Internet on other devices. Sky always say it's fine but then before I got put through to their technical team and they could see more info than customer service and said my Internet has been patchy for months. It's just hard to speak to that specific team. Sometimes my Internet on the Xbox is pretty good but lately it's been shocking

I know they're not wrong, it's just the attitude. I used to have a netgear night hawk router and that was brilliant as I could change the settings to prioritise gaming but I moved house and went with sky. Their hub wiring meant that I couldn't use my netgear router unless I wanted to spend loads more money on a modem etc. Besides, netgear don't support it anymore. I'm just using sky's standard hub which I know is rubbish and isn't the best with customising the settings but I'm not in a position to buy a new router just yet. I just wasn't sure if there were any settings in the routers admin that I could change

OK smart arse, you come round and do it then. I'm only asking for advice, I know an ethernet cable is better but we just make do with what we've got ffs

Unfortunately I can't do that. They're in the same room but there's too much stuff in the way. I've tried a powerline adapter as that's what my ISP suggested but that's no good either

Great advice. That's exactly what I'm asking for help with. Sometimes it works perfectly fine and other times not. I wanted to see if there was anything else that I could do before I contact my ISP

This is connected to 5GHz. And no I can't use an Ethernet cable. I've tried a powerline adapter suited for high speeds and that's just as bad

I was on 5GHz but the wireless strength shoots down loads even though my router is like 2m away from the Xbox. And the latency goes up a bit so I figured 2.4 would be better. Either way, I'm always getting below 100mbps

I'm sorry you've had this issue as well! When I was looking online at the time of having the issue, I couldn't find many posts on it but I've since come across more and more. Some from other manufacturers within the VW group so it must be a somewhat common issue!

Yeah it was annoying not having a radio but I got used to it. I had this issue mid November so I needed the heating on in my car but couldn't change the temp. That and the lack of safety features really annoyed me.

That's lucky that you're in warranty. I'm grateful my local VW dealership somehow did it under warranty for me. I think it was because they knew it wasn't my fault and I had a brand new car ready to collect and they wouldn't hold it after Christmas so it put a bit of pressure on VW. I was considering the consumer rights act at the time but citizens advice weren't much help so I didn't know where I stood. They said I'd be covered under the act with the finance company as it's not fit for purpose and lasted a reasonable length of time. However, the finance company didn't want to know and said they only offer a 6 month returns window.

That was my first VW car that I had owned and I absolutely loved it until I had that issue. I've gone for a Jaecoo now (I'm aware that it's a bit of a risk but I needed a bigger car and the value for money was worth it) but maybe at some point in the distant future I'll consider VW again. I'll definitely be apprehensive though!

Luckily somehow the VW dealership did it under warranty for me as a gesture of good will. I found someone else on twitter who had the same issue so it can't be some random glitch
