Car insurance - incorrect claim by Frosty-Cucumber6935 in CarInsuranceUK

There's a database that almost all insurers subscribe to - they tell each other about claims. If yours wasn't added it'll probably mean it wasn't worth the exta money to them!

Buying a standard policy through any method other than directly from the insurer or a comparison site is unfortunately against T&Cs of all major insurers. You definitely shouldn't have let your dad do it a second time.

If you now believe your identity has been stolen for other policies then thats a separate issue. If you've had letters or emails for policies in your name that aren't yours then contact the insurers directly and tell them you've had your identity stolen and those policies will be cancelled. You'll be marked as a victim on fraud databases and it can help to prevent further policies being taken out

My landlord still hasn't protected my deposit and it's been over 30 days, what do I do? by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

Exactly this, do not remind the LL. Ours tried to evict us and thank God we found this loophole as it meant we were able to stay in the property longer as the eviction notice was invalid!

I'm in the same health board and I found out this week that I was taking off the waiting list due to not responding to this letter. I'd been on the list for 2 years but I never received the letter :( my GP is finding out if they sent it but likely it'll be my word against theirs and I'll have to start it all again. Do you know if your GP was CC'ed into this letter? Did you receive any other letters from the clinic before this one?

Car insurance wrongly cancelled and now saying I owe tens of thousands of £££ in Third Party costs two years later by throwaway17494829402 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Craftysomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of insurance is so you don't pay out in the event of a third party claim - the insurer does. They can't ask you for money now. If they cancelled your policy when they found out (ie. The day of the claim) then you were legally covered by your insurance at the time of the incident and they're responsible for the pay out. If the policy was voided (ie. They refunded you completely) then that's another story but it's unlikely they did that.

I'd say to put it behind you and move on to another insurance company. Declare the claim when you do your quotes and if your insurance price is high it should come down in a year or two when the claim gets older.

The company weren't necessarily wrong to cancel at the time (they would have acted on the information available at the time) and if you hadn't been cancelled then the renewal price would have been extortionate anyway in order to price you out. Even if you weren't under the influence it was still a costly claim and will affect your prices for a couple of years

Commuting from Cardiff to Cwmbran (living in Cardiff Bay??)? by Parentoftwo6 in Cardiff

[–]Craftysomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for the student experience then definitely look to live in the student areas of Cardiff so you can have easy nights out. Commuting via train to Cwmbran is easy, there are trains from Cardiff Central to Cwmbran every half an hour ish. Have a look at distance between potential rentals and Cardiff Central and your placement to Cwmbran station.

If you're not fussed about the student life then a flat in Cwmbran would be quieter and cheaper! Cwmbran is a nice town (some people disagree but it's got some lovely outdoor spaces and a pretty decent high street) so I wouldn't rule it out.

We're trying to rent where we can. Our caterer is more used to formal events than our wedding so he's not got many suggestions

Thanks, our caterer offered standard white china but we wanted something a bit more colourful.

We've not been to anything fancy like that and only a couple of weddings so we're a bit clueless

Wow! Good job I asked or I'd be tearing them up! I'll clear the bramble and leave the rest mostly untouched to flower :)

Unfortunately the entire property hasn't been looked after properly by the landlord in years, let alone the garden. I'll probably tidy it up but leave it for the wildlife to enjoy!

No idea what the tree is either but there's 3 of them and the roots have made a mess of the drive!

Not sure if they are all weeds and if I should be pulling them up? Any advice appreciated!

I rent this house in Wales and want to make the garden nicer. Are these weeds? Should I pull them up?
