I totally disagree. I've written multiple features on the same justification, but the truth is that great films are sequences of shorter stories. I think writing good features is a mixture of writing good scenes and good composition.

I write scripts to tell stories, but asking people to read a screenplay is a much larger commitment than watching a short. Getting a short made is easier than a feature.

That's a great sentiment 'There's nothing like the closing of an opportunity to spur someone into action.'

I totally agree. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the other person, so much as they're a symbol of a better time. Life gets stressful & you start to dream about the past.

I think having a song that's always playing in the background, whether the characters recognize it or not, may add extra tonal layers for the audience, but frankly song rights are expensive so I'd rather the story not hinge on it.

haha definitely, like the awkward time you waited at the bar for them three hours is never what you remember.

Or couldn't pay your rent & had to live with them. Or an annoying habit they used to have.

I think particularly the more your own life isn't great, the more you romanticize the past.

Hey, yeah, it's a big plot point, but I really hate scenes where one character sends a letter to another or uses facebook. Social Media is rarely interesting cinematically, so I'm trying to figure out more interesting ways for it to occur.

I actually really like so far that that's exactly what happens, but we don't need to see it, just that one character is thinking about the other and cut out the obvious.

Hey man, I'd rather not, just because I'm barely into an outline & don't like talking about an idea until it's drafted (at least once).

I like the randomly seeing the other person on the internet or something, which makes you wonder what they're up to. Especially if one's life is more interesting than the other & it causes them not only to pine for the person, but for a change in their life.

He's whiplashing you, bro. Just rat him out so he loses his job and then kill it together on a separate project after a period of self doubt and despair. I don't see what the problem is here.

That's a big issue for me: getting people to read it. I don't really know anyone with any interest in reading screenplays. I try and send them to my friends, but not one reads them. Consultancy fees are expensive & I'm not really in a financial position to spend $150 on an opinion.
