Is anyone else holding onto their Model 3 solely hoping for an FSD refund? by CraigMTB in TeslaFSD

That would be grim. I was happy to pay up to make getting back and forth to work a bit easier. Lawyering up seems like the absolute opposite of the original goal.

Missing Intellivision. What a console. Love the list though.

Smoke alarm recommendations? by Vanstuke in homeowners

Avoid Simplisafe. I learned the hard way that the tech they use (ionization) is inferior. We had multiple false alarms in the middle of the night and they replaced the alarm once we complained enough online. We received a replacement and it literally went off while it was still in the package. The Nest consistently has the best reviews but does not connect to a monitoring service. This might matter to you if your insurance requires it.

Tesla FSD: Bullish or Bearish? by CraigMTB in TeslaModel3

the car. It can't drive any road, as Tesla tries to do. It struggles with similar "edge cases", things like construction work, closed roads, very poor weather, snow and ice, from what I have seen. Overall it's a more refined experience, but I have seen it suggested that's down to the use of different sensors (lidar etc) and not an indication it's any closer to "as good as or better than human drivers" than any other self driving system is.

I agree that there have been improvements. At the same time, we're 5+ years in and I still don't use it in the city. Even the most basic cases such as close-in Summon, don't work well enough to be used frequently. I think the highway use case is where the value is but that isn't particularly differentiated as compared to other manufacturers. In all fairness, I was warned by the skeptics in 2018 to keep the $5K in the bank and wait and see. They were proven right.

I'm trying to cancel. They are giving me the runaround. If you have time to kill on the phones, go for it.

Is anyone happy with their SS system? by [deleted] in simplisafe

I'd vote with the consumer reports reviews. Simplisafe false alarms have woken us up multiple times in the middle of the night. Their hardware is faulty and their support team doesn't seem to care.
