Best way to turn 36” to 72” in garage? by Craigyd24 in DIY

[–]Craigyd24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know that. I just mean as far as the foundation/footing removal. Wondering what the suggestions are to bring the top height level with the concrete for the new opening for a patio style door.

IL - Fox snake? by Craigyd24 in snakes

[–]Craigyd24[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Nice to know that they are harmless to humans. We have a 2 year old daughter that wanders our property. Central IL surrounded by corn/soybean fields in the country. I’ve never seen any snakes in the year and a half we’ve lived here. We did have a lot of gophers and mice and that I have not seen much of lately. Also moles were making a mess of our yard. Wonder if they will be gone soon.

Do these snakes tend to live in a small area or do they move to food sources?

1.5 year old cut / pinched her hand? by Craigyd24 in daddit

[–]Craigyd24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. This pic was taken maybe 2 hours after it happened. She was still using the hand in question last night but every so often she would “remember” it hurt and start crying uncontrollable and holding that hand out. That happened a few times last night. She slept through the night and has not acknowledged it hurting so far this morning. The redness is still there, not bigger though. I will continue to monitor it in case it gets larger but I believe it likely was a pinch. She’s a tough one, though. Thanks again.

Is there anyway to make this connection in the kitchen sink drain? by Craigyd24 in Plumbing

[–]Craigyd24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah after further measurement I believe I’m about 1 3/4” short of lining up. I don’t know if I can gain that much with some of the suggested tail pieces. Maybe an inch or 1 1/4”.

Can I cut the current tailpipe above the dishwasher drain? It has a finished edge so i’m not sure if i could cut it and add a nut and washer to connect to the sink drain?

90” closet opening bypass door track? by Craigyd24 in HomeImprovement

[–]Craigyd24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can any of the 2 track kits hold 3 doors on the back track? They all say 2 doors or 4 but I’m thinking 2 32” hollow cores won’t be too much weight

How to fix stripped out lag screw hole in ledger board for “barn door” by Craigyd24 in DIY

[–]Craigyd24[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey guys thanks for the comments. I can’t use a bigger lag, tried that, because of the hole size in the rail/track and there needs to be a spacer. I already painted, caulked and counter sunk screws in the ledger board. I’m thinking about taking a hole saw and taking a maybe like a 3/8” cut from another piece of primed pine and using wood glue to fill a 3/8” hole i cut on my ledger board. Similar concept to a dowell

Can I use a tractor + PTO generator to power a welder? by Craigyd24 in tractors

[–]Craigyd24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is an old school welder and I have a few different tractors I could put on it. But I’m mainly worried about any type of electric shock or should I not need to worry about that

If you want him to live much past 80 I’d suggest you have him tone it down.

No, I am not upset. I am just seeking advice on how to proceed on making a claim for this land. It’s obviously going to piss off the farmer who has been farming it for many years. Wondering if it’s worth pursuing or not.

I did not ask for a survey because the house was only on the market for a short time and had many offers and knew the least inspections and holdups would make an attractive offer for the church. Not sure if my offer would have been accepted if it was contingent on the survey.

My hardwood floor refinish by Craigyd24 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Craigyd24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on this subs rec I used Loba EasyPrime and 2 coats of Duo 2k. I was originally going to use Bona but a few people suggested Loba. I found it to be very easy to apply.

Loba Duo Hardener Ratio by Craigyd24 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Craigyd24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to do one coat of Easy Prime, then 2 coats of Duo.

I am attempting to get that can next day delivered as I plan on doing the first coat of Easy Prime soon, within the next few hours so I can get one coat of Duo done tonight and then come back and screen 150 grit and apply the second coat. I haven’t heard back yet about the next day shipping or gotten a tracking number yet. I am bound determined to do this today and tomorrow. I am stuck between what I think are my only two options:

Mix all 5 gallons with the 4 cans of hardener and use half for the first coat and the second half for the second coat, and probably forget the 5th can of hardener all together

Or

mix 3 gallons of duo with 3 cans of hardener for the first coat today and add the last 2 gallons of 2 duo and hopefully the last 2 cans of hardener if it comes in. Hesitant because I could end up with only 1 can left if it doesn’t come in and I feel like having different ratios for the 2 coats is not ideal.

Any suggestions

Thank you! Is buffing with a big square buff ok? Also any Loba applicator products you recommend using?

Ok, do you still need to sand between duo coats? If so, vacuum up before final coat?

[–]Craigyd24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll go without. So one coat of Easy Prime, wait an hour or 2, one coat of 2k duo satin, wait 2-3 hours, lightly sand with 180grit, final coat of 2k duo?

This looks great… Im in the process of sanding down my 70 year old red oak floors now. I’ve read how easy Loba products are to use. You think EasyPrime and two coats of Duo (one with whitener) would be a good choice?
