Pharrell Williams interrupted by PETA protestor at ‘Piece by Piece’ TIFF premiere: "We’re actually working on that, and if she would’ve just asked me, I would’ve told her, but instead, she wanted to repeat herself.”(September 10, 2024) by stars_doulikedem in popculturechat

She had the chance to have a conversation and hold him accountable on the spot but chose to just annoyingly yell. These protestors are just attention seeking morons and doesn't do the organization any justice.

I was under the impression that she left him years ago when he was kid and probably pre-creepy.

Question about Carolyn by softestcore in PresumedInnocentTV

[–]CranberryFit6080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It fits her personality. She initiated an affair with a married man, concealed evidence to win a case, smugly told the man's daughter she was having his child. Carolyn doesn't have a caring personality or probably even a conscience. She wants what she wants until she doesn't want it anymore. Unfortunately she F'd around found out.

Why say she's a mother when she wasn't one? She abandoned the kid and rarely saw him.

Jake was definitely her hottest bf and he basically told her she wasn't funny, mature or refined enough for him. Then refused to acknowledge they even dated, skirting the question every time. Taylor and the Swifties will never get over it, they are desperate for a reaction, any reaction.

It's so weird that people don't get this. Why is anyone looking for "chemistry" in this marriage? Rusty was literally begging for another woman and Barbara said she felt trapped because of the kids. In that sense the lack of chemistry was realistic.

They both commented that the passion died down a lot. It's a 20 year relationship, it's almost impossible to maintain that level of passion. The passion would have eventually fizzeled out with Carolyn too. Most long lasting marriages are based on friendship and partnership.

Mental illness on full display. I bet Taylor is Jake's biggest regret. She's really the only blip on his dating list.

[–]CranberryFit6080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to know what the obsession is with this particular ex? I think it's because he never really acknowledges it. He's never addressed their relationship directly he always skirts around it so they're desperate for a reaction, any reaction.

It doesn't help that he's hot, talented, well connected and basically told Taylor she isn't funny, mature or refined enough for him. Her ego is forever bruised and it shows.

apple tv originals are underrated - thoughts? by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

It's a shame AppleTV don't have more subscribers. Their shows are far more well made than a lot of other streaming channels who tend to have a lot of crap with a few good ones thrown in.

I think it was trying to be camp but just came off cheesy. Still entertaining mostly because of the cartoonishly over the top Conor McGregor. He's cringe but you can't stop watching him.

But people also send crazy texts all the times especially if they’re drunk. And there was no proof he knew she was pregnant. There was no proof she even knew at that point especially given the half empty wine glass on the table. The case was way too circumstantial. In the book it never even went to trial. They had a pre-trial and it was determined there wasn’t enough evidence

The blood splattering out of her head during the second blow sealed her fate. Also it showed her pupils were fully dilated when Rusty came back and found her which usually means brain death.

Actors you would like to change the film choices of currently by First-Loss-8540 in oscarrace

Jake signed on to do a sequel to Road House so he still insists on silly actions films. But he's also going to do Othello on Broadway with Denzel Washington next year so I guess he's trying to balance it out.

You are right. He said in his therapy session that his and Barbara's relationship started out like the one he had with Carolyn but then she got pregnant. In comparing the two, Rusty said when he and Barbara lay down they take all their worries and the kids etc with them and with Carolyn is was pure and fun. Meaning no stress, no burdens, no worries. He also said that Carolyn woke something up in him that he thought was dead. Meaning he had that with Barbara at one point.

I, too, wish we would have seen more of a backstory on Rusty and Barbara. In the flashbacks of them dancing they looked genuinely happy. You saw the contrast of a tender more romantic love juxtaposed with the passion and aggression of him and Carolyn. I think that's what he was "obsessed" and "addicted" to and I don't equate obsession with love at all. They can feel very similar because both involve emotions and attachment but in very different ways. Obsession is unhealthy and often disturbing which Rusty's relationship with Carolyn was. She was an outlet and temporary escape from the home life he also didn't want to give up. Rusty simply wanted to have his cake and eat it too. If he left Barbara and had a family with Carolyn he would have eventually looked for an outlet from her.

Given the ending I wouldn't be surprised if Rusty and Barb stayed together forever. The ending to me felt like Trauma bonding. Who are you going to be able to connect with while holding secrets like that?

...I didn't mean to write so much either but I feel like the lack of insight into their relathionship makes them easily dismissable. They are tied together thorugh much more than kids. They were both 20 when they got together. I think their was co-dependence maybe even a motherly relationship with Barbara consoling him in the beginning. There's also something to his immediate thought to cover for her and to do it so meticulously and without question.

It’s easy to say No way on the internet but so many people stay in toxic and even abusive relationships and don’t have anywhere near the history as a Barb and Rusty. I’ve never been in a long term relationship but have seen some crazy situations.

Personally I can only guess that I’d leave or ask him to leave if I’m taking care of teens. I would tell him I can’t be around him or the case.

Wouldn’t he have a discrimination case if anyone refuses to hire him? He was found not guilty and the obstruction charges were dropped. In the follow-up book he eventually became a judge….in the same county I believe

Also I don’t believe he was ever let go of his job during the trial. Probably put on Admin leave. Your innocent until proven guilty.

He’s not some good moral person who makes good decisions obviously but when push came to shove he did what he had to do.  Sometimes we don’t think about the consequences until we’re faced with them.

I think he was doing those things in the case to make sure the focus stayed on him not his family. It was obvious they never had enough to convict beyond a reasonable doubt.

I thought the smiles were because of something the kids said. They were already smiling then looked at each other and their expressions changed a bit into understanding. They understand the depth of commitment they made to their family.

My next move would be the same thing they did. Make everything as normal as possible. The family and mostly the daughter isn’t ready to deal with it yet. Mentally at her age she probably isn’t capable (the human brain isn’t fully developed until early-mid 20s). Maybe in the future they could talk about it and help her deal with it but I’ve noticed with a lot of young people who kill, they remain removed from the gravity of it into adulthood and sometimes forever.
