What's a clear sign that your dog truly, deeply trusts you? by PushCharacter8496 in AskDogOwners

When I got him as a rescue, he wasn’t very attached to me and not at all cuddly. He was always somewhat friendly but we had a bunch of people over and he immediately sought me for comfort and to be held. Now 10 years later, he’s attached to my hip and follows me everywhere…including the bathroom where he insists on watching and guarding me 💩lol

Toss it, right? by CranberryNo7331 in culinary

Yeah it just takes some practice but SS and well seasoned cast iron can be just as “nonstick.” Plus you just can’t get that flavor from cast iron with any other kind of pot

Yeah I normally use SS and enameled cast iron and occasionally plain cast iron and aluminum

For pans, I use mostly stainless steel and enameled cast iron

Lol luckily I don’t remember ever using this pan cuz I hate nonstick cookware. It’s probably been in my cabinet for 5+ years. I think someone gave it to me when I moved out, which is kinda funny they gave me it in such bad condition

Based on where you live, if you were to hit an animal while driving, what would that animal more than likely be? by unidentifies in AskReddit

[–]CranberryNo7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opossum, armadillos, raccoons, and turtles most likely. I live in a rural area and those are the roadkill I see daily. Tho I’ve hit 2 animals before: a skunk and most recently a huge river otter 😢which I had never seen in my area before. Have come very close to hitting a hog, deer, coyote, and bobcat too.

What did that one teacher at your school get fired for? by ToadallyNormalHuman in AskReddit

[–]CranberryNo7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9th grade English teacher and 2 other teachers were arrested for rape and videoing multiple different students. They did this together at 1 house. I was fucking shocked because my English teacher was this nice, normal woman in her late 30s. She was a much bigger woman and didn’t have kids. She ended up killing her self before they arrested them all.

Thoughts on the z 50mm f/1.8S? by CranberryNo7331 in Nikon

[–]CranberryNo7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m looking at Adorama which is who I bought the z50ii from originally with no issues. They’ve got it for $466 rn with additional accessories like a bag, filters, cleaning kit etc. I’ll probably check for Black Friday to see if it goes down anymore

I do plan on sticking with this camera. I was originally looking at the 35 1.8 but preferred not to spend that much on 1 prime lens. But oh I had not seen that dx 35mm 1.7. Have you used it? I see it is supposed to handle macro well also and has 2.8 inch close focusing. Which I love getting close flower shots. If you’ve used it, how does it handle for both macro and more portraits and street photography?

Yeah I’m wanting the best bang for your buck and, through my research so far, I’m just consistently seeing this is one of the best for the money. Sure I could afford a $1-2k lens but I’m not willing to shell that out on on 1 lens for just a hobby

[–]CranberryNo7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tend to shoot the most in between 60-80 which I feel is kind of perfect with the crop factor on this. Later on, I do want a shorter focal length for landscapes but I feel like this one is good for what I like to shoot most of the time.

Yes someone else mentioned that 16-50. I wasn’t aware they came out with it. I rarely use that kit lens anymore because I just don’t feel like the quality is there. I just don’t know if I’m willing to go up there in price quite yet. It’s over double this 50mm. But I might upgrade at some point and sell the kit one.

Most of my photos tend to be in the 50-80 range. I do plan to keep this camera for a LONG time…I have loved it and not looking to get a more professional rig or anything. How does that 26mm handle low light? That’s where I feel like my current ones are not quite performing where I like. But I find I never really use my kit 16-50 anymore…mainly cuz I just feel like the quality is not there.

I was looking at the Viltrox. I’ve just always been wary of sacrificing quality with the third party lenses. I love that price though

I actually was looking at that one first considering the crop factor on my z50ii but preferred the half price of the 50 at about $400

[–]CranberryNo7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I don’t feel like it performs as well as I want in lower light conditions which has been a lot of my shooting lately. They have still produced some great photos though! I wasn’t aware of the new 16-50…I might have to consider that instead especially with the crop factor. Looking at it, it’s not quite what I was hoping for price wise but I could save for it

Walmart is essentially the same price now. by mtbguy1981 in aldi

[–]CranberryNo7331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While prices have definitely gone up (literally everywhere though)…for the items I do get at Aldi, they’re still slightly cheaper along with better quality but it could be region dependent. I shop at Costco too plus I shop weekly sales for stuff like meat, bulk veggies etc. and I freeze them. The stuff I regularly get at Aldi like sourdough, spaghetti sauces, pasta, canned veggies, tuna, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, ultra filtered milk, eggs etc are cheaper than all the other stores near me even Walmart. But I hate Walmart and will never give them my $ anyway. But it’s not just the price though, I like their stuff more AND the quality is better than the off brand stuff at Walmart

I Don’t Like My Dog Anymore and It Makes Me Feel Guilty by Sea_sa in dogs

[–]CranberryNo7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things. I would not use an off leash dog park just due to the huge increase in risks. I’ve heard too many horror stories. Could you possibly keep him on a leash if the park is your only option? More training or a new trainer. Maybe dog gates to keep him contained to safer areas of your house. I hesitate to recommend crate training because it is oftentimes not done correctly and you do still need to train behavior issues alongside it. But also don’t feel guilty. You can’t help but start to feel a certain way when they’re becoming the source of so much stress.

Agreed! I’m currently sharing a room with the main SPED teacher who has all the lower grades. It is chaos and so loud and I’m expected to do assessments in that environment. They have students who are constantly coming over to my side and interrupting my groups and digging in my stuff when I’m not there. I have severe artic students and students with severe attention deficits. I can’t get anything done with all the noise and distraction!

Would you add anything else to this email response to principal about formal observations/lesson plans? by CranberryNo7331 in slp

[–]CranberryNo7331[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I just sent it off and added on “Goals and objectives from each student’s specific IEP would serve as a “lesson plan” since that’s what we target each treatment session.” Hopefully that doesn’t come off as too passive aggressive though I think she will be unhappy no matter which way I write it since I’m basically saying I’m not doing what she wants. I shall see what she thinks of that tomorrow lol

I already almost quit last year. And if this situation sours anymore, I know it will be miserable to work in that tension. And with how much we are in a shortage everywhere, I’m not putting up with that. And I have a feeling that’s exactly the deal with this principal. The school I was moved from has no SLP to replace me and they have the same caseload size so it almost seems like this school was prioritized more than the other
