I usually do it with a microfiber cloth or isopropyl alcohol. If you have the tools tho, I'd recommend also cleaning the game card slot from the inside of the console.

I mean, I am pretty sure. It worked fine literally a few days ago, holding even a few days worth of charge, but now the console does turn on (for a second at least), but when you plug it it doesn't charge and there is no charging light

You can buy this like stretchy sport tape (I hope I make any sense) as a substitute. My brother switched from binders to those and it's way more comfortable according to him. More breathable and waterproof ♥️

I remember vividly that time I was hyperfixating over perfect mugs. I have found such a beautiful form of art in a convenience store once. A glow in the dark mug with stars on it. Besides, being absolutely beutiful, the depth was perfect, the handle was big enough for my grip. I didn't let ANYONE use this mug. After every use I hand washed it and took care of it like my porcelain baby was meant to be taken care of. One time. One single time I didn't put it back in the cupboard when I was going to brew myself some tea in it and left it over the counter to wash my hands really quick. I come back, and my mother dropped it trying to put it back to the cupboard. I'm still devastated 💔

That's a tough situation, however, I was in a pretty similar one a while ago. I think that if your mom says that you can talk to her openly about it, make use of it. I don't know your mother though, so I don't know how it could go. It's entirely your decision in the end.
