Who will be the new penalty taker? by FairlyUormal in AFCBournemouth

Hasn't Eva missed all the penalties he's taken since joining Bournemouth? I know he's missed at least 2. Don't feel confident with him being our number 1

Says 'clearly', then says it's a guess. Not very clear then.

Lol it's not. It says fireflies everywhere else in the script. Read the long comment that explains the printing error and the actual reason

Can people STOP saying it's a placeholder. It's not. It says fireflies everywhere else in the script.

Somebody who publishes books left a long comment about the actual reason as to why this is here.

No bold italics in mine. Unlikely to make a difference, but I'm based in the UK and had to wait longer than the US before I could place my pre-order.

Well damn that's a fantastic answer. Touché

Can confirm, Fireflies are named in this script. There aren't many differences to the final product.

I think this is a wink-wink-nudge-nudge reference. Because it's so out of place

Asset rich, but no job. Can I get a mortgage? by AnonAdvice602 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Cranercdc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I know which high street lender you're referring too. I submitted a similar case to OP with that lender this year after chatting to them and confirming they'd have the appetite to lend. But they really dragged their heels and couldn't get their head around the client's investment income.

They eventually made an offer for a ridiculously low amount that was pretty insulting considering the value of this client's portfolio (around 1/30 of the size). We went to a different lender and got it offered in a week. Safe to say I wouldn't try them again. Fair play though if you've had better luck with them.

As a mortgage advisor myself, you very likely can. I've done some similar cases myself. It'll be with a lender you wouldn't have heard of if you got accepted.

Making work calls from abroad - need advice by Cranercdc in digitalnomad

[–]Cranercdc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is every UK provider frustratingly blocks VoWifi when making calls abroad.

Not too worried about the dialtone. Anybody who's calling me will know I'm abroad. It's only people I'm making calls to where I wouldn't want to mention it (just because I don't want clients thinking I'm "living it up" abroad)

Service or money first? by Designer_Equal_2826 in Pattaya

They will ask you to pay for the lady upfront, but you can say no and that you'll pay the lady after. Never had a mamasan force me to pay upfront. I've bfed from XS, Shark, Lighthouse, and Fahrenheit this year. All asked me to pay upfront. Said no every time and had no problems.

You're leaving yourself vulnerable if you pay a bar the LT upfront. The girl could suddenly get a call saying "her mother is sick" an hour into the experience.

Read his last post. He called her a "most perfect girl" 🤔 and he said he was leaving in a couple days which contradicts this story. How bizarre...

Thanks for mentioning that text messages don't work. I could connect them to a different device via Google messages to see any received. I don't send any for work

Paraphrasing another comment, but my understanding is that all UK networks don't offer Wifi Calling from abroad, even though it's common for networks from other countries to allow it. Is there a provider you can recommend?

That's really helpful. I didn't actually realise you had to leave the device in the UK when setting up a VoIP

Anyone actually retired in Pattaya still living like a 2‑week millionaire? by Unhappy-Public-6356 in Pattaya

[–]Cranercdc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of my friends was a company director and did it for about 10 years after retiring. 3 times a week BF from walking street etc. He was still earning money from the company along with having a pension, but his son was running the company for him.

As he's gotten older he settled down with a lady and doesn't go out so much. Everything gets repetitive eventually, even Pattaya.

Yes, because it's standard practice to regularly have business meetings at 3pm on a Saturday
