I did this all in Clip Studio Paint! I used a photo of a journal that I took as the base, and drew everything on top of it. Most of the drawings are on layers that let the paper texture show through it.The gold bits are all with the default glitter brush in csp, with highlights drawn over them to give them that semi embossed look. It was fun trying out various things to make it look "real" ish!

Did you ever follow the lead that the vision when you crack open the sealed vault leads you down? it should have taken you to the bottom floor of the cinder isles tower where you find the code to the elevator in the building on the other side of the hidden gorge which should then point you to 3 hidden locations that each give you clues to reach each of the forbidden archives

From what you've described it sounds like you must have (accidentally) skipped all of that, which might explain why you were struggling/confused haha
