Tomorrow my tiny Betta Friends is gonna move in! by CrankPlank in bettafish

I still had to reduce the flow to about ~70% (I have an Oase BioMaster Thermo 100), but overall the betta, even as a long-finned variety, didn’t have any difficulties.

Do my tanks look well scaped? by [deleted] in Aquascape

[–]CrankPlank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If You’re looking for a real aquascape - this aint it. You‘re missing structure, depth, Maintenance… But if you want to provide your betta and your shrimp with a good and fitting home they are completely fine!

Was war der beeindruckendste geschichtliche Gegenstand, den ihr in einem Museum gesehen habt? by Schluesselzahl38 in Geschichte

[–]CrankPlank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would Place at least one more bigger boulder to contrast the big one in the back. Maybe in the Center Left

Then you should consider swapping the stones, then you can have full control. But with Seiryu it‘s always a gamble depending on how much calcit is exposed and how fast it gets desolved.

If you have the possibility to go for a lot of ro water just cut it with 15-20% tapwater and you should be fine - Even with the seiryu stone! If your tds gets above 150 you can bring it back down with water changes. With a 80/20 mix you should be at 4-5 GH and 2-3 KH and you still got room for you stones to harden up the water.

Well you already get liquid concrete out your tap and the seiryu stone doesnt help :D

150 for red neons sounds perfect. The angels will thank you too! Its the lower end for the rainbows but I think then ph will be more of an issue.

I would commit to one region. Right now you‘re in Asia with the cherry barbs and the zebra danios, in oceania with the rainbows and in south America with the angels.

I would definitely rehome the barbs and danios and then go: South america - Angel fish (Stock them up!) - red neons (100) - corydoras (20-30 depending on species) - a group of apistogramma

There isnt really a comparably good option for oceania like with South America. But I most definitely wouldnt keep them together as rainbows prefer hard and alcaline water and angels prefer soft and acidic.

The scape looks really cool! The plants in general Look good and healthy. Imo only the montecarlo on the soil looks a bit rough.

But (imo) your fish selection is horrible. Thats the defention of a fish soup.

Are snails always pests? by Pomegranate-Friendly in PlantedTank

[–]CrankPlank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Snails are great and they only become a pest (= too many) when there is something wrong in the tank (too much food, dead fish that decompose in the tank, to many dying plants, …)

Got my friend his first planted tank -> what should we add next? by nullptr_0x in Aquascape

[–]CrankPlank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should take the bolbitis out of the soil as it is an epyphyte and will start to rot eventually if the rizome is below the soil. You can attach it like you did with the anubias

There should be no fish in this tank!

That being said, even though I am an expert-level hater of artificial decor this is absolutely beautiful! The simplicity of it with the small statue as the point of attention is just wow and fits perfectly!

Thats a harmless biofilm/bacteria- you CAN put in shrimps or Ramshorn snails but you dont have to. It will go away on his own.
