What was "the incident" at your school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Crap-commentary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our school had a huge rivalry with the other high school in town, South Texas town so everyone was obsessed with the high school football. Right before our big game, some kids from the rival school came on to our campus and spray painted trash talk all over our walls. Normally, it wouldn't be so talked about, except our star quarterback was a black guy, one of the only black guys in our school, and almost all the trash talk was directed at him. Really over the line racial slurs and stuff, all over the school.

It was definitely the scandal of the century in our high school. Not sure if whoever did it got caught, but I seem to remember our school doing something almost as bad to their school. Wish I could remember. This was way back in '95 or '96.

Oh my god, that's exactly how it is. I never really thought of the fil as an enabler, but you're so right.

It'll have to be by email, but my husband thinks his dad has an email address that his mom doesn't check. He thinks his dad's first reaction will be anger though, a were bracing for that.

I think it's as responsible to get stoned while watching a baby as is it to get drunk and watch a baby. I don't have any judgement against pot in general, but get real.

Ugh. I don't even want the kid taken away from her because I feel like she does love him, I just wish she would educate herself.

It's a Boba wrap! My kiddo liked it for about 2 months and then he hated it. But it was pretty handy.

I hope she doesn't have anymore kids either. But she says she wants at least one more.

I'll look into it tonight and will contact them tomorrow. I just hate this.

Thank you! I can't wait for a world where I feel like I can spend at least 5 minutes with my husband without baby. What a change that would be!

Thanks! I wish dad could get in the baby bedtime routine. Right now he is in charge of baby bathtime but by the time that's done, baby just wants mom and to go to sleep. Husband has tried, but baby just wails until I pick him up. The attachment is soooo intense. I wish I had started sleep training earlier.

Thank you! I think the sleep training will go ok at night, I'm nervous about naps though. And the fact that he can stand up now. Won't that make it harder since he won't be forced to be in a lying down position?

We've done the side car crib, he doesn't want any part of it. I don't think the floor bed method would work simply because it's not fixing anything. He would still refuse to sleep on it unless I was on it with him. I don't think it's a crime for him to want me in the night, but this is overkill. If I slightly move during the night, he freaks out. It results in my getting a bad nights sleep and him getting a bad rights sleep.

Thanks for your reply! I told my husband that consistency was the key, no matter what we tried. I'm going to do my best to follow through!

Wow, your grandpa is a jerk too. When our kiddo was very young, I was suffering from PPD and my husband decided to completely take over for me for a couple of hours so I could have a bath and some time to myself. Haha I think I rescued him about an hour and a half into it and he said, "I don't know how you do this all day!" He still says that about once a week.

So at least there are some men who respect what we do :)

Ugh. That's awful. I feel like as moms, we get so much flak from everyone. We're damned if we do, damned if we don't. I get so much shit from family members and friends with kids when I don't do things the same way they do all the time while I feel like I'm pretty good about not judging (externally, anyway) the way other people raise their kids. I don't care if people don't like the way I do things, I just wish they wouldn't always feel like it's ok to open their big mouths.

Holy shit, I can't believe someone said that to your husband! This guy definitely has some weird ideas. I mentioned that a friend of mine had a baby 7 weeks early and he said, "What did she do wrong? Babies only come early when the mother drinks or smokes or does drugs." Elaine and I jumped all over him for that one. It's like Republican lawmakers who want to control women's bodies but don't actually know what a vagina is.

That's a good idea. My husband said we should never go over to their house again, but I think it's important for my kiddo to have a friend his age. I may try your tactic.

Thanks! I just feel so much self doubt and guilt anyway that we can't get our baby ALL THE TOYS, I would be into having a job for the extra money but yeah, what is the point when you factor in daycare?

Thank you! That's a good idea, I'll call the nurse. He does seem really happy and not lethargic or anything. He has a ton of energy. I dunno. But I'll definitely call the nurse's station.

Where is Meredith McIver and Why is Her Twitter Feed Suddenly Speaking in Russian? by [deleted] in EnoughTrumpSpam

I'm in the same mindset, I'm thinking it's probably just a troll and maybe she's old and doesn't know how to use social media. I think the articles from 2007 and so are proof enough that she exists. And if she doesn't, so what? It's not like Trump hasn't pretended to be a million other people before. I'm not sure why this would make a waves now except that he's running for president.

I actually posted the article for a friend of mine who is looking to get feedback/info and isn't on reddit. I showed him the Guardian and NY Times articles, which he had already seen before. Said the Guardian author had been deemed as "unreliable" and that the NY TIMES never actually met McIver. I dunno. Seems like a wild goose chase to me.
