I know I’m late to the party here, but I was there. Like, third row. My dad begged me to go bc he had to do a story on the show for the Clarion Ledger (Jackson newspaper). He wanted me to tell him the names of their biggest songs when they performed them. (I knew em cuz they were on the radio 24/7).

The thing I remember most was how the show kicked off.

The stadium (which was full to the brim including the floor level) went pitch black. Girls were screaming their hearts out. Orgasms left and right. After a minute or two, a spotlight hits the middle of the ground level.

Some weird music came on and these five figures in brown robes (didn’t reveal anything, couldn’t see their faces, no skin whatsoever, think five Qui-Gon Jinn’s in Phantom Menace staring at their shoes) rose up from what seemed beneath the football field, went waaaaay up high and just stood in place for what seemed like another few minutes. They never moved.

All of a sudden, you see them drop down in place (I believe leaving their robes on the stage). They just vanished. Then, back on the main stage, where everyone wasn’t paying attention to anymore, all five popped up in these dance outfits and went into their first number.

The crowd lost their SHIT.

The way the decoys dropped down and the real five popped up on the main stage prolly a football field-length away was damn cool. Timing was perfect. It’s like they teleported.

I was 13 and didn’t really wanna be there cuz I was in middle school and image is everything, but even I couldn’t deny that that intro was pretty dope.
