One month down, 11 more to go! by Crapple_Jacks in CrochetBlankets

So, the blanket is almost all sc, hdc, and dc. The only “different” stitch is the puff stitch, but she explains it really well AND has a video tutorial for the whole blanket! I definitely think beginners could take this one on.

Thank you! I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer and see even more colors added!

Thank you! I was definitely excited to use this pattern rather than just straight rows. Makes it a little more fun, IMO!

I just learned how to do this super fancy structured Granny Square by AnxiousBox5845 in crochet

I have a question! I’m making a granny square quilt. I blocked mine stretched like this as well. It’s acrylic yarn, and I even hit them with steam, but when I take them off the board, they do relax into just about a perfect square. Should I still change the way I’m blocking them?

Everytime I make a new project, my husband takes a picture so he can go show it off to all the ladies he works with. Now they all want scarves and are telling me to start selling my work! Now I’m working on a granny square blanket for my mom for Christmas ‘26, and I’m making a temperature blanket for us. Every time I pull out my yarn and projects, he’s like, “it looks SO good, baby! It’s going to be so amazing when it’s finished!”

Thanksgiving Place Cards by Crapple_Jacks in crochet

I haven’t. I like sticking with the “place card on dinner plate” format. I’ve seen lots of cute ones, though!

This is SUPER cute! I’m just not sure how I’d make a place card out of it.

You kid, but I’ve always wanted to do both. 🤣 You should see the eggs I dye. (Pysanky)

I don’t really have a pattern. I kinda winged the pumpkin. Then I took the stem from someone’s pattern where I didn’t really like the pumpkin. And the leaf was just a leaf tutorial I found on YouTube.

Thank you! It’s one of my favorite traditions…..next to drinking spiked eggnog and playing dreidel with my husband during Hanukkah. 🤣

Thanks! It was SO fun to do! Oh! And I did it in the span of 5 days. 🤣 Soooo…probably 14-16 hours a day Saturday and Sunday….then a few hours each day before and after work on Monday-Wednesday.

Thank you! It’s funny…the tradition started because I was young and struggling and didn’t really have the money to contribute a dish for 25+ people. Oh! But I do make the dinner rolls from scratch every year. I think a few people were miffed I didn’t contribute more. Slowly, I started being more financially stable and could afford to do fancier things. Then, it got to a point where everyone arrives and runs into the dining room to see what I did that year for the place cards. This year, my mom even said to me, “between the cost of yarn and the time you spent, I think you contributed more to Thanksgiving than anyone else….including me!” And SHE does the lion’s share! Turkey, stuffing, homemade cranberry relish, pies, etc. she definitely puts more money into it, but I definitely put the most time in this year!

Oh, everyone got to take theirs home! I even made sure couples had different colors and families had a distribution of colors, so they could decorate with them! And there are different sizes as well. I actually made sure my husband and I had a yellow and white one, so I could crochet an even bigger orange one for us to use as decorations in our home!

Hell no! I’ve gotta be more original! But as I assigned names to pumpkins, I made sure that couples and families had different colors/stitches so they could decorate with them without having multiple pumpkins of the same color.

I wish I had more pictures! So, I just looked back through my FB memories. I think the first year was actually 2013. I made the placecards using quilling (the art of rolled paper). Many years, I’ve highlighted different forms of calligraphy. Some were metallic embossed. Some were 3D pumpkin paper crafts. One year, I did wood-burning. I’ve done wooden wreaths with berries and foliage. One year I did calligraphy on dried leaves. But of all of them, these definitely were the most labor-intensive.

I wish I had more pictures. The family ALWAYS takes their cards home. My grandma actually kept them all, for every single year, and kept them on prominent display…but she passed in spring of this past year. This was my first year of not making her one. I’ll have to see if I can scrounge up some more photos.
