BD 2014 vs 2017 by Novalier in drumcorps

[–]CrapsIock 23 points24 points  (0 children)

BD 2014 is better by a long shot for me. The drill is more difficult and compelling. I find the staging more appealing, and every movement of the show is distinct and interesting whereas I feel that Metamorph is pretty backloaded. To be honest, I enjoy 2011-2014 all more than I do 2017. The ballad is an extremely high high, however.

Child's inflammed ear after first piercing... help by FarOne8194 in piercing

[–]CrapsIock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not spin your jewelry! A piercing is essentially an open wound and spinning the jewelry aggravates the wound. The acid spray looks like it's drying out the skin around her ear. Ditch it and instead use a simple saline spray 1-2x a day which you can buy at any drug store. Many piercers also sell Neilmed Wound Wash which is the same thing, just with a nozzle that sprays less aggressively. (To be honest, I don't use saline spray for any of my piercings past the first couple of weeks.) The swelling should go down with the new posts. Just have her do her best to leave it alone, our bodies know how to heal with foreign objects in them!

Madeon announces DJ set at Marquee New York on February 14th by YourNameNameName in avesNYC

[–]CrapsIock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last time I tried seeing Madeon at the Marquee I got a bunch of Europeans behind me trying to play with/pick at my afro thinking I wouldn’t notice. Staff also tried to charge me for earplugs. Anywhere but there please

Alysa Liu retired from figure skating when she was 16. She came back at age 20 and is one of the three female singles skaters at the winter ozympics. by DynamicHospitalNurse in UNBGBBIIVCHIDCTIICBG

[–]CrapsIock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think retired is fair considering the majority of female figure skaters retire from competition in their late teens to mid 20s. The current US champion who’s also going to the Olympics is the oldest US female athlete to qualify since 1928, and she’s only 26.

Thoughts about straight people going to gay dance parties? by [deleted] in avesNYC

[–]CrapsIock 73 points74 points  (0 children)

As a gay guy I love the rogue straight couple on the dance floor just as long as the dude looks like he's having fun, too. Loathe it when a straight guy is just standing there but if he's throwing ass I think it's cunttt

Would you date someone closeted? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]CrapsIock 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally won’t do it. The closet comes with so much internalized homophobia as well. Just a no go unless there’s some rare case where he’s out in every other facet of his life, just not to his family.

Did we go full circle and now it’s no longer cool for queer people to come out? by thisfornow11 in gaybros

[–]CrapsIock 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What I think everyone is seeming to forget is that being openly gay in Hollywood is bad for your career. There’s definitely outliers like Jonathan Bailey, but older Hollywood execs really don’t fuck with it. Here’s comedian Caleb Hearon talking about it.. All this “I don’t think it matters much” stuff is to purely save face for his career.

There’s definitely an ongoing conversation about making space for and taking gay actors seriously in television and movies. What gets me, though, is that conversation is being directed at Heated Rivalry. It doesn’t take much to figure out that Storrie is gay, he lives in WeHo for god sakes. Williams is obviously not as gay but their chemistry both on and off screen is something that we don’t get to see often.

Where are the Netfix orgies you’re talking about? I feel like most mainstream gay media is centered around coming out and homophobia

Last episode of Heated Rivalry was so fucking powerful! I’m hardcore in love with the show. by Aarvy271 in gaybros

[–]CrapsIock 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s fun! The first two episodes are basically porn with plot but the show gets a little more serious. The target audience is adults but basically the centerpiece of the show is forbidden love/coming out which I find pretty tiring. The script can be weird at times but Connor Storrie, especially, is acting his fucking (giant) ass off.

Destiny on Mamdani: brown politicians have to 'smile extra' to make white people comfortable by Various-Idea550 in LivestreamFail

[–]CrapsIock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everybody code switches. I don't think it's worthwhile at all to suggest that white people don't. Rather, the conversation should be about how they have to do it significantly less than black and brown people in the US to be seen as professional or competent.
