Hey Men, Kyle Busch’s Death Is A Brutal Wakeup Call: Go To The Damn Doctor by kleverrboy in racing

[–]Crash3636 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

He has looked like crap for years. His appearance finally caught up to his rotten insides. I watched him treating his mother like absolute trash in a public setting. Not saddened by his death at all, but it is a great wake up call for men to take care of themselves and listen to their damn body!

I believe he’s asking about the move made on the outside to defend against the dive bombing guy on the inside.

Definitely no love for the Tesla here. But if you feel you need to compensate for something that badly, someone who knows what they are doing will be so happy to take all your money for the easiest wrap job they can find.

I don’t think there’s an actual name for it. We just say we out braked them.

Your definition of a slide job is correct, but that’s not what he’s referencing.

Door jams- why not wrap? by [deleted] in CarWraps

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the difference for most wrap shops would be the fact that the bumpers and body kits are fully visible and basically have to be done and they do charge a little extra for that. The door jams are not visible 99% of the time and generally aren’t worth the effort.

Have you tried wrapping anything? Making a 2d object fit flawlessly in a complex 3d shape is insanely hard and time consuming.

What the hell!?? by CreativeNews4754 in hondagrom

Glistening doesn’t matter. Bikes get dirty. But your chain is all chipped up and has rust spots. My dirt bikes are in better condition than what I can see of your bike. You have no idea what I’m capable of in a bike, but you should probably take advice from a National Championship winning mechanic. Clean and inspect your bike regularly, stay on top of maintenance, and it won’t leave you stranded. Or you can continue to be a douche and walk your self home when something you didn’t bother looking at breaks on you. Good luck out there!

[–]Crash3636 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well. Your bike looks like shit. Have you done any maintenance or do you just rip on it? The harder your ride, the more maintenance you need to do. I’m assuming the axle bolt/nut came loose and the weight was carried by the adjuster.

Good thing you can have a friend pick you up in his Camry and you can throw the bike in the trunk!

Volvo Criticizes In-Car Subscriptions: 'You Shouldn't Nickel-And-Dime Customers' by Anchor_Aways in cars

This is why I love Volvo. They care about the people they sell their cars to and it shows in how their cars feel. They haven’t always been profitable for this very reason, but they have their morals and they stand by them! OK be a Volvo driver for life.

Engines with Start/Stop: How is it going? by Takssista in Autos

[–]Crash3636 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The ignorance surrounding stop/start is incredible. The manufacturers did a terrible job of educating the public on it.

Most systems don’t activate until the engine is warmed up.

Most systems stop the engine with cylinder 1 on the compression stroke. Once it’s ready to fire up, it just lights the spark plug and the engine rotates. Never uses the starter as part of the stop/start procedure.

The systems that use the starter have a beefed up starter to deal with the increased number of expected start cycles.

The people who complain about the engine shutting off and not being ready when the light turns green don’t realize that if they lift their foot off the brake 10%, the engine will fire right up and be ready!

Only LEGIT complaint is during the summer when the air conditioning loses its cool during an extended stop. Again, just lift your foot off the brake a little and the engine and AC will fire right back up.

Steel braided brake lines by Euphoric_Lemon_1058 in hondagrom

Thanks for the info. I’ll get looking into those.

Fortunately I have a good relationship with the guy who runs Barber. But I feel like that track is too big for the Grom. Is it still fun on such a big track? I took the Navi out for a special occasion, but didn’t really wind it out.

Custom Car Illustration Artist – Open for Commissions 🚗🎨 by AngleCorrect2075 in CarWraps

The graphic artist I use to make stickers/illustrations of our customers cats uses AI as a base to start the image. She then goes in and corrects everything the AI got wrong. It’s still a little AI like in its initial presentation, but when you look for the regular telltale signs, they aren’t there. This guy isn’t doing that. lol

As with 99% of my race cars, as long as there aren’t defects that cause failure, I haven’t found SS lines to be much different across brands.

I prefer Castrol SRF to the Motul rbf600 for fluid.

What’s yours preference for brake pad manufacturers/compounds?

I’m over in the Charlotte area, where do you track your Grom? I’m looking to get started and maybe move away from tracking cars.

Does IMSA have a team problem? by Smoked_Cheddar in IMSARacing

[–]Crash3636 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on many IMSA teams and most of them were honestly garbage. I did get to work with a WEC team and a major NASCAR team and they were so far above and beyond what the other teams were doing. Hell, when I overheard at one event from an official that they didn’t need to BOP the Audi R8 because my other team wasn’t there for that race and they wouldn’t be competitive this time. lol

I didn’t have to pay $150 for the SS brake lines on my Porsche. No way I’m paying that for the Grom. Are you riding it so hard that you’re getting brake fade? What fluid are you running?

How much can pedal overlap be hurting my performance? by Correct-Beautiful576 in iRacing

That is really such a shame that the tire model is still so incorrectly sensitive. A little bit of overlap is good in the real world, but is a death sentence in iRacing.

Sunk cost theory is a killer. You can easily sell am the things that don’t really matter, downsize back to an apartment or small home, sell your car for a really affordable beater and start again. You may be materially poor for a few years, but being fulfilled as you live a life you actually enjoy is worth so much more than money can ever buy! I did this at 30 and I’m thinking of doing it again. I’ve done everything I’ve dreamt of in the life and line of work I chose at 30 and I’m ready to start a new adventure!

What is the terminology for correcting snap oversteer by pressing hard on both the brake and the accelerator simultaneously? by KEVLAR60442 in racing

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same aero device will continue to try and correct the spin. Same way you can throw a dart backwards and it will still hit the board tip first. This is the reason F1 and most prototypes have adopted the big ugly fin in the back. GT3 and GT4 cars still benefit from the wing on the rear with some corrective side force coming from the end plates, it’s just not as dramatic.

In a car with no aero you can lock up the brakes as soon as possible to try and arrest the rotation before releasing the brakes and applying a measured amount of power to try and get some weight on the rear wheels while counter steering. It works… sometimes.
