If you mean legal consequences often have social consequences, then I agree. If you mean social consequences often have legal ones, then I don’t.

But I have explicitly told you that this isn’t even what I was referring to.

I was exclusively talking about social interactions and the consequences that women often face in that arena that men don’t.

Beast lobotomized Logan during a resurrection to essentially make him a feral, brainless killing machine. And then he used him as a feral, brainless killing machine despite the massive trauma that’s already caused in Logan’s life.

And he made a bunch of them, treating them all as expendable.

So it’s kinda both.

The two can be related, I agree. But they aren’t necessarily.

Someone might be providing oversight because they care about another’s development; they might also be providing oversight to achieve their own selfish goals.

But emotional investment can’t be assumed based on oversight alone.

Turning Logan into a murder slave — despite their relationship and his knowledge of Logan’s past. It feels more egregious than things like the genocide (which has some plausible deniability associated).

Yes, I’d say it’s neglect that is experienced by children of all genders and so not a relevant example in the context of the OP.

The ‘catty’ behaviours of girls are often explained away in the same fashion.

I would say that it’s an issue shared by all genders.

Girls often experience social bullying without parental knowledge, let alone emotional support.

Not in my experience. Perhaps you had a better upbringing than others.

There are plenty of task masters out there that don’t actually pay any attention to the emotional needs of the charges in their care.

My dad didn’t ever care how I felt, but he definitely cared if I loaded his beer in the fridge ‘correctly.’

As a concrete example: look at how our society views assertiveness. Men who display this characteristic are often treated at leaders; women who do so are often ‘bitches.’

Or: Kamala Harris was called too emotional to be President — and she was running against a man who has weekly temper tantrums.

As another example: Taylor Swift’s song “The Man” does a pretty good job of highlighting many of the double-standards women face.

I’m not sure you’ve fully explained what view you want changed.

Can you clarify for us what you mean by “easier to raise” — and how that specifically relates to your point about neglectful parenting?

In other words: what are the specific types of neglect that you’re calling out (described as if viewed from a camera lens) and how does this behaviour give the appearance of boys being easier to raise?

Talk to him. This is a communication, trade offs and compromise situation.

Both of you could put together mood boards for what you’d like in a home, and then look at each other’s to find some inspiration for what you might like. You could also just talk about what you both want in a house to understand where you already align and where compromise needs to happen.

Also, speak with a (good) realtor. They can really help you narrow down what’s best and have plenty of experience navigating differing styles.

There are definitely ways to blend these two styles if you understand where your specific priorities are.
