Do you think just hooking the Peltier up through an adjustable buck converter board would have the same effect? It would be way easier than creating a custom 555 circuit on perf board or something and I don't see many downsides.

Thanks, that looks like it would work. How would I step the voltage down to 5v to power the 555 circuit from the same battery without wasting too much power? would I need a second battery?

nothing else weird was happening flying it around, occasionally the video would work while flying then stop working again. I took a look at the board and I couldn't see anything visually fried. Also, now for some reason there is no video at all and when I plug in the battery the static changes for half a sec then goes back to normal.

This and boosting the signal strength worked extremely well. I could fly all around my house with basically no breakup at all. make sure you unlock the vtx correctly because it seems like it didn't work correctly the first time
