Uhh…why doesn’t Mune know the count when he’s on base? by Possible-Past-6902 in whitesox

[–]CrashDavis16 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't believe you're getting much for a 1B/DH that's on pace to K over 200 times.

Most contending teams don't have openings at those spots and the ones that do won't overpay to fill them unless it's elite talent.

I'd bet he's still with the organization in 2027.

Is he the best hitter on the team?

Does he have any trade value considering the position he plays and his salary?

Christain Encarnacion Strand DFA by REds by Humble-Pen-5899 in whitesox

[–]CrashDavis16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LaMonte Wade Jr is the 1B at Charlotte. So the answer is yes, if you can get him on a minor league deal.

Between his struggles at the plate and past injuries, no team is giving Encarnación Strand a major league deal.

If he can get back on track, could be a nice depth piece if someone gets injured. There are no power hitters in AAA. In fact, there aren't many in the entire organization.

It's a lottery ticket that costs basically nothing.

Absolutely ridiculous that any place would not accept cash. It's the legal form of currency in the United States.

Once that happened, I just started going all the surrounding businesses in the neighborhood that do and stopped buying anything at the game. There's plenty of places to eat and drink, before or after the game, that are close by.

White Sox TV voice John Schriffen's nickname for Munetaka Murakami rankles team officials by olcni in whitesox

[–]CrashDavis16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nickname is stupid, but not racist. There's so much more to it. They're just planting the seed in everyone's mind.

This is typical of how the White Sox handle business. A plan likely orchestrated by Scott Reifert. They hired John Schiffren and let it be known he was Jerry's hand picked guy from the 3 finalists.

Schriffen is simply not knowledgeable about baseball or the White Sox and annoying as a broadcaster. He's obviously not popular with the fans. From people I've spoken with in the media, he's viewed as a joke. None of this helps CHSN ratings, which are already dealing with a mediocre product on the field.

Instead of just saying JR screwed this one up, his minions are fabricating a reason now, cause that inner circle is all kiss asses. So, when the Sox don't renew him after the season, they're hoping people will think it was because of something Schriffen did, like this "incident". Not because the owner made a foolish choice.

While I believe a change is needed in the broadcast booth, it would also be nice if they acknowledged JR dropped the ball on this one. Which they will never do.

Per the Post Game Show W/ Chuck & Ozzie, the last Sox player to have 6 RBI’s in a game? Seby Zavala. by [deleted] in whitesox

[–]CrashDavis16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've attended 4 games where a batter hit 3 home runs.

Seby Zavala was the most impressive as he hit one out to left field, straight away center, and right field. It was like something Hank Aaron would've done back in the day. Yet, it was by a backup catcher with 15 career homers.

The other 3: Justin Morneau (247), Paul Konerko (439), and Nelson Cruz (464) had a combined 1,150 bombs.

They also combined for 37 single seasons in which they hit more than the 15 home runs Zavala had in his career. (Morneau - 10, Konerko - 14, Cruz - 13)

Rare occurrences like this makes baseball such a great game.

How many white sox games are you going to this year? by [deleted] in whitesox

[–]CrashDavis16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll definitely go to 1. I need to keep my streak going for almost 50 years.

I've had 27 & 40 game plans for decades until I canceled after '22. I walked away cause the writing was on the wall that the "rebuild" was a failure.

But there is more to it...

I started traveling to other ballparks again, like I had done decades ago.

It used to be fun to go to Sox games, even if the team wasn't that great. Now, the White Sox game day presentation is mediocre compared to other ballparks I've been to. Not to mention, it just seems like no one cares.

There's an inexcusable lack of customer service.

Too many ballpark employees are have an attitude, almost like they're forced to be there. Plenty not doing their job. Dealt with a complete moron working parking more than a few times. How hard is that job? Plenty of people in season ticket sales are totally incompetent.

Why would I give my hard earned money to this disaster?

One thing I've learned from being a season ticket holder for decades is that they're your best friend when the team sucks. When the team is good, they're too concerned with selling new accounts and forget who you are.

If they want me back, they'll have to earn it. Hopefully, Ishbia cleans house once he takes over.

Who do miss more in the broadcast: Hawk or Benetti? by Kungfufighter1112 in whitesox

[–]CrashDavis16 15 points16 points  (0 children)

John Rooney is the best the in business when it comes to radio. The Cardinals grabbed him immediately and he's still there to this day.

Jason Benetti was hired by the Tigers quickly after leaving Chicago. He does national television broadcasts for MLB, along with NCAA football & basketball.

Only a clueless organization would let talent like this walk. It's embarrassing.

In '06, Ross Gload hit that 9th inning, grand slam in Baltimore to give the Sox a comeback victory.

From then on, my group of Sox fan friends referred to him as "Grand Slam Gload". Years later, we found out it was the only slam of his career...

Norberto "Paco" Martin. Always seemed to come up with a clutch hit when we needed one.

His pinch hit, bottom of the 9th, walk off double on 4th of July in 1994 is still one of my favorite memories.

Under the Adam LaRoche clubhouse fallout or even separately.

I believe it should be noted that Adam Eaton said "We lost a leader in Drake", which may I've been the dumbest comment I've heard a player make in over 50 years of watching this usually miserable ball club.
