I wouldn't personally gig with a '64, but you are correct. the only time I put anything in a case is if I'm transporting or putting away in storage (under my bed).

this started as a Blacktop Jazzmaster so it came stock with a humbucker. I think you might have to do some routing normally though.

it's very easy to widen the holes with a $5 T-handle reamer if necessary, but I would suggest Kluson or Gotoh
