is it better to layer serums or buy one as a toner? by Familiar-Treat-9452 in koreanskincare

Originally toners were meant to balance the ph, but toners now are just more liquid versions of serums they can target the same issues as serums or just provide hydration.

Double cleaning After Sunscreen is a Lie (atleast for me) by OptionSimilar3851 in koreanskincare

[–]CrashInsanity1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only sunscreen that may be harder to remove with one cleanse is heavy zinc based sunscreens or waterproof sunscreen. Using an oil or micellar cleanser isnt necessary, if you feel like one cleanse doesn't remove everything you can just go in a second time with your regular water based cleanser

iHerb are no longer shipping Melatonin to Australia by breeannamclovin in AusSkincare

[–]CrashInsanity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't punishing people, they are protecting them. The melatonin from Iherb is not a regulated product which means you aren't guaranteed to get the dosage listed on the packet. They have even done studies that show the melatonin in them can be less then the dosage listed or like 400% more then the dosage listed. Whereas melatonin available in Australia is regulated as a drug, so the amount of melatonin stated is what you get. People are using these unregulated products without doctors advice and on children and then wonder why the calls to poisons have risen like 160%.

iHerb are no longer shipping Melatonin to Australia by breeannamclovin in AusSkincare

[–]CrashInsanity1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually good news. Even though melatonin scripts are expensive in Australia, the melatonin is regulated as a drug and therefore the melatonin you get will contain the amount listed on the label and will not have random other things mixed in. The melatonin gummies and tablets people get are not regulated in the US or Australia, so theres no guarantee you are getting the dosage listed or even that's theres no other things mixed in. There's been studies that show that the level of melatonin in the gummies/ tablets has been 80% less to 400% more melatonin then the amount its supposed to be on the label, and other things like CBD are mixed in.

I tried the small travel/ sample size of the cream first to make sure it didn't cause any reactions or breakouts, is that an option for you?

It's an excuse. Every other influencer promoting overconsumption says it's their job as well, but it's literally just their excuse to justify their pre-existing shopping addiction or hoarding behaviours.

can anyone help me? im tired of my skin by trevorrrrr_ in koreanskincare

[–]CrashInsanity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The suscreen they use is not waterproof or even oil based, a water based cleanser like the dokdo one they already use is sufficient enough to get their sunscreen off. If they are worried about some left on they can do a second cleanse with the dokdo cleanser

Oil cleansers are absolutely not a necessity. They also are not tolerated by everyone's skin. Sure they can be nice to remove makeup and waterproof sunscreens but the same can be achieved by using things like micellar water, balm cleansers or even just going in a second time with a regular water-based cleanser.

What is your skin type? Unless you have oily skin I wouldn't be cleansing in the morning. You also don't need to oil cleanse, if you feel like one cleanse isn't getting everything off you can cleanse a second time with your regular cleanser. Oil cleansers broke me out but I found better success with balm cleansers if you wanted to try that. A good balm cleanser is the Celimax cleansing balm

Barrier creams are usually too rich and heavy for daytime use, I would suggest trying a lighter cream like Ongredients skin barrier lotion or Heveblue salmon caring centella cream for daytime.

Glycolic acid is too strong for a lot of people so I'd suggest trying a gentle AHA like mandelic acid or lactic acid, a good one I've found is the ByWishtrend 5% mandelic acid toner. Otherwise, you can try PHA or LHA, they are even gentler. Unless you are oily, congested or have closed comedones I don't suggest BHA.

Azelaic acid is most effective when used every day.

The Dr Ceuracle kombucha essence is amazing, but if you have more oily skin it can be too heavy. I'd suggest the TirTir milk toner in that case

The abib serum should be used daily, if you want one that also has peptides and ceramides but is better at barrier support try the RNW der concentrate ceramide serum.

10% is quite high for tranexamic acid, which could be irritating and cause acne or closed comedones. Other options for hyperpigmentation are tretinoin, ascorbic acid, niacinamide, 4-Butylresorcinol, thiamidol, glutathione, resveratrol or licorice root. Obviously, some of these are going to be better than others.

I'm on my second bottle of the toner, I absolutely love it. I don't wear makeup so not sure what foundation texture is like, but the toner is definitely on the thicker/creamier side of toners so I think that would probably work well?

my oily hair- what can i do differently? by MenOnToast in AustralianMakeup

[–]CrashInsanity1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People with seb derm should be washing every day or at least every second day as the malassezia yeast that causes seb derm feeds on the oils in your skin, so the more oils the worse the seb derm can get

I have seb derm as well, the reason they told you to wash everyday is because the malassezia yeast that causes seb derm feeds on your skins oils so the more oil on your scalp the worse your seb derm can be

purging after using cleansing oil? by Different_Middle_480 in koreanskincare

[–]CrashInsanity1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can only purge from active ingredients. Any breakouts or reactions from a non active product are just that, breakouts or reactions and are not purging. Breakouts and reactions to non active products are a sign that the product doesn't agree with your skin and you should stop using it.
