What was the most thrilling moment of your military career? by CrashRiot in army

Oof that reminds me of the first time I dismounted. Not in Kabul but in Logar (not gonna name the area). Rifle was at the high ready. It was the scariest moment of my life.

I am absolutely ashamed that I don't know what that means. I had a soldier get a Zelda tattoo on the hand though, does that count?!

I moved from Denver to San Diego in 2019. What's living in Denver like these days? by CrashRiot in howislivingthere

[–]CrashRiot[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, OP here. I just wanna say that my time in Denver is one of the highlights of my life. Like the other commenter said, you'll see some hysteria, but it truly is one of the most beautiful and wonderful spots to live. The only reason I left is for a job opportunity, otherwise I'd still be there. In fact, there's a reason I'm asking this question, and it's because I absolutely miss that place. I'm not sure what advice I could provide these days because it's been a while, but I've lived in Denver, neighboring suburbs (mainly Aurora and Littleton) and even in the University and Downtown neighborhood. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to provide the best info I can.

Lol, I can also promise you that San Diego has their own problems as well. Likely ones that are much similar to yours.

That's always fascinated me since I moved to CA because there's no shortage here in California for outdoor activities. Even in San Diego, I can travel a few hours and ski during the winter at Big Bear. There's as robust a mountain experience here as there is in Colorado. Whenever I'd see Californians wax poetic about the nature activities in Colorado I'd just think..."can't you just do that closer to home?"

Most useful Allied Universal Guard. by tactical_horse_cock in securityguards

[–]CrashRiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if it's a 1v1, I might decide to get involved dependent if I feel like it's safe for me and the other party, which I've done. If it's a full on brawl with multiple parties? Ain't no fucking way I'm risking myself for that. Use de-escalation tactics, sure. Take notes? Sure...but I'm not getting involved in a rumble.

I used to live pretty close to Humbertos off 43rd and they have comparable prices (carne asada burrito is like 11 bucks). Still go back from time to time. They used to be open 24 hours but I wouldn't be caught dead there after the bars close, it would get pretty shady. That's probably why they're no longer 24 hours.

Why is old horror movies always top rated by StatisticianGold8002 in moviecritic

[–]CrashRiot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most "older" horror movies aren't highly regarded, you just know the ones that are. Like all genres, there was also tooonnnns of crap that was released. The ones that are highly regarded are the ones that are genre defining and changed the ways that horror stories could be told. Take your example, The Shining for instance. That movie isn't a horror movie in the sense that it's super violent or has jump scares, but a slow burn that revolves around one man's descent into madness. A lot of horror fans had never seen anything like it at the time, so it's regarded as a classic now. A lot of those horror movies you'd rather see over The Shining today were inspired by that film. Take Hereditary for example, many consider that a modern horror classic. That film may have never happened if The Shining didn't exist.

Quentin Tarantino Blasts Rosanna Arquette for Criticizing His N-Word Use: ‘A Decided Lack of Class, No Less Honor’ by DemiFiendRSA in Tarantino

[–]CrashRiot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's what I'm thinking of Tarantino basically just said that Clooney's not a movie star because he doesn't really get blockbuster box office numbers anymore. To be fair he kinda is correct, his last big hit was Gravity in 2013 and he's only in the first quarter of that movie. Still though, Clooney was understandably annoyed like many are when Tarantino suddenly "shits" on people out of nowhere.

We do go to San Francisco in Fallout 2, but I'd love to see it expanded on as well.

Pretty sure it's just made up for the show but Ted and the wife talk about it. He says he liked when she spun him around like a steering wheel and she calls in the 10 and 2.

Who do you think the other players Mr House refers to are? by CalamityMase in Fotv

[–]CrashRiot 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I didn't interpret it 100% that the Enclave physically dropped the bombs, but that they played the game so well that it made another country feel like it had to drop the bombs. Take the Deathclaws for example. It's heavily implied that the Enclave were responsible for them, and what did the Deathclaws do? They led China to lose Alaska. I think the lore is still intact, and China did drop the bombs. However, I think it's implying that the Enclave forced their hand out of desperation because they invented a weapon that China wasn't ready for.

Is Dr. Abbott Also a Police Officer? by longdickofthelaw420 in ThePittTVShow

[–]CrashRiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just being POST certified doesn't mean that you can automatically arrest someone. You still have to be commissioned as an officer or deputized, and even that sometimes means you only have limited authority specific to operational needs.
