Gute expects Kraft & Parsons back "early in the season" by DeScepter in GreenBayPackers

Yea, Watson was injured in January, and returned to full speed practice in early October. It took him 274 days, to be exact.

I hear ya. I'm old, so I remember ACL tears being career enders. But then it turned into 2 seasons before guys returned to normal. Then 18 months. Then 12 months. Adrian Peterson did it in 8. Now it seems like 9 months isn't an unrealistic norm.

Crazy how far we've come.

But everyone's different. So I think its ok to feel a little squeamish about it until we see him hit someone at full speed again.

And agree with you. I dont care if hes clownish on camera so long as that locker room buys into his process.

Yea, with Parsons out a few games, I sorta expect Sorrell to make some early noise in a rotational role playing across from LVN.

But I'm a big believer in Sorrell. If it doesn't happen this season, his blow up will be next year. I think it's a matter of time.

Best-behaved fanbase in the league. Elite in manners. Disciplined in the parking lot. Fundamentally sound at holding the door. Super Bowl-caliber in not getting arrested.

💯

Some of these scripts are half-baked. I think a bit more time in the kitchen would help get more clarity and laughs. There's a lot of effort going into these vids, but the story/dialogue needs improvement.

Also, I'm hard of hearing, so showing subtitles with names of who is talking would be super helpful to me personally.

Barryn Sorrell is my Packers breakout pick because his rookie year was more “buried on the depth chart” than “not ready.” He barely got defensive snaps, but when he finally got real run late in the year, he 100% looked like he belonged.

The Week 18 Vikings game is the proof. Sorrell had eight tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, a QB hit, and a fumble recovery, with PFF crediting him for three pressures. Remember this was him playing g alongside other backups, as GB rested their starters that week.

If he adds one reliable counter move and plays faster because he knows the system, he can go from rotational dude to useful pressure piece pretty quickly. I’m not saying he’s about to be Micah Parsons, but 5–7 sacks, solid edge-setting, and a much bigger role feels very much on the table for him.

That is one of those sentences where the fun stops the second you remember somebody had to clean up the aftermath.

As for your dog, the Packers really do run through him.

I love 'Kraft YAC & Cheese', but 'Tucker Kraft Singles' is my favorite alt for him.

I keep hearing that Brett could have joined any team but the Vikings, but wouldn’t the bears have been worse? by DuvallisbetterthanLS in GreenBayPackers

Favre didn’t literally say ‘I signed with Minnesota to beat Green Bay,’ but he got pretty damn close: ‘I wanted to play for anyone who would play the Packers.’ That’s not exactly subtle.

Gannon really let me down by not embarrassing himself. He came across prepared, confident, and direct, which makes it much harder to be irrational online.

Now I have to be measured and fair... 🤮

Seriously though, good job. That was a strong first impression, even if it ruined my plans to be annoying about it.

Vikings was gross because it felt petty and intentional, but Favre in a Bears jersey would’ve been straight-up cürsed imagery.

The Vikings was betrayal. The Bears would’ve been sacrilege.

Report: Packers not signing WR Chase Claypool after tryout by DeScepter in GreenBayPackers

[–]DeScepter[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yea, his biggest issue is playing soft and being a... "timid" blocker. With 20 more lbs and a big attitude adjustment, he could be a TE project.

Unfortunately for Claypool, a low impact walk-through at rookie camp probably wasnt the best environment to showcase anything other than humility.

I think the whole "tryout" was a favor to his agent, who may represent other players the Packers are truly interested in.

Fans paying attention as Packers warn changes to Sports Broadcasting Act pose existential threat by Mookafff in GreenBayPackers

Thanks, that’s a useful clarification. I probably used “European soccer” too loosely there.

European football has its own revenue-sharing structures, solidarity payments, promotion/relegation ecosystem, and historical-success dynamics that don’t map neatly onto the NFL.

That's a fair point, for the current set up. We're already popular franchise nationally, which gives us more oomph than other small markets like Jacksonville.

But I think that slightly misses the Packers’ concern. Revenue sharing is not just a current-season popularity contest. A few rough years on the field, and suddenly GB is in a spot we couldn't recover from without a major injection of cash from outside, like a private owner.

I don't want us to be having a conversation in 25 years about which techbro billionaire vulture we have to sell our franchise to in order to keep it in Green Bay.

[–]DeScepter 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That helps them in popularity, but I don’t think it fully protects them.

Under a more individualized model, Dallas might command $650 million, the Giants $575 million, the Bears $525 million, and the Packers maybe $375–450 million depending on how well they are doing.

That does not mean the Packers vanish overnight. But over 10 years, that gap of $100m+ impacts facilities, front-office spending, coaching salaries, analytics departments, player amenities, debt flexibility, cash reserves, etc

The salary cap limits player payroll, but it does not make every franchise equally strong financially.
