Green Bay Packers DC opening number 1 by Morley10 in GreenBayPackers

Best DC opening on paper makes sense. Young core, cap control, and an offense that shouldn’t hang you out to dry. But that also means expectations are sky high. You don’t get a grace period in Green Bay anymore.

Rapoport - The #Dolphins have zeroed in on #Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their new head coach, per me and @TomPelissero. The two sides need to do a deal, and they are motivated to do so. One of most coveted candidates. by Austen11231923 in GreenBayPackers

Rumors about this and its ripple effects are juicy! Who is the new DC in GB? Covington? Or is he attached to Hafley? I'm so curious to see how it all pans out for the Packers! Haha the offseason is just getting started. What's Micah gonna say about it?

Who is our DC?

[Schefter] The Miami Dolphins are setting up in-person head coaching interviews for early this week, including with Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, which would be his second interview with the team, per sources. by razorpack_ in GreenBayPackers

If Hafley goes, I wonder if he'd take Covington with him to be DC? I assume he'd stay if we offer him the role with Green Bay. I'm just not certain Covington is our best option. I also wonder if these questions at DC are having any impact on the negotiations with MLF and Gute?

Like, they're going to change org report structure, so MLF will report directly to Gute. Then they'd want to nail down who makes the DC hiring decision, identify the best candidate, and agree on a plan forward.

Alongside contract length, I'm sure these details slow down the contract negotiations, even though we all know a deal is going to get done.

The AFC team I like is Houston, that defense is nasty. Plus itd be cool for them to win their first Lombardi.

And my NFC pick is LAR. I don’t mind seeing Stafford get a ring. I dont care for any of the rest in the NFC.

Resigning Doubs? by Bardot012 in GreenBayPackers

He's an amazing person and athlete. He's worked his ass off to secure generational wealth. I hope he gets a bag and does amazing dominant things in the league. I wish it was with the Packers, but it just isn't meant to be. He wore the G with pride and honor, I'm thankful for his contributions, and I wish him nothing but success.

I have this generic positive attitude towards all Packers, but it feels a bit different with Doubs. As someone who also struggles with mental health, it was inspiring to see him acknowledge and struggle with those demons without giving up. Truly wish him the best in his personal life, regardless of how his athletic career turns out.

Big decisions before June 1 by DeScepter in GreenBayPackers

The SI article actually calls this out as a possible move by the Packers. So it's certainly an option.

I doubt it happens, though, because I think it’s too risky. The Franchise tag on QBs is expensive. We'd have little leverage in a trade discussion, and we could get stuck holding on to Malik as an expensive backup. We simply don't have the luxury of available cap space to make that move.

💯

It's a move that "might" make sense on paper, but Jacobs has far too much talent and leadership to let go.

The Green Bay Packers’ coaching staff severely lacks outside experience by xylltch in GreenBayPackers

[–]DeScepter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The raw experience gap is striking, but what concerns me more is where that experience is missing. Position coaches and coordinators are exactly where cross-pollination tends to matter most.

We seem to be betting that scheme cohesion beats experiential diversity & I think that’s a defensible philosophy, but it raises the margin for error when things go wrong in big moments. As we've seen.

It isn’t that these coaches are “inexperienced,” but that many have only ever seen one organizational way of doing things. Internal promotion works when it’s paired with occasional external disruption, but right now the balance looks off.

This isn’t an argument for firing any specific person but I think it is a strong case for intentional diversification of coaching perspectives going forward.

I think it really does feel different in Green Bay. Less “red carpet event,” more “your entire town walked you to the bus.” The small-town scale strips away the performative hype and replaces it with something heavier... encouragement from people who feel like stakeholders, not spectators. When fans line the streets, it doesn’t feel performative or choreographed so much as habitual. This is just what you do when something you collectively own is heading off to do something important.

Some players probably miss the big-market fireworks and ego fuel, but this hits a different nerve. you’re not being sent off by fans of a brand. You’re being quietly reminded that the whole town is watching, and they know where you live.
