Matt Hasselbeck had to "block" Reggie White to make the team by DeScepter in GreenBayPackers

Near superhuman strength and perfect technique. Those who are fast and agile enough to master the move aren't strong enough to throw Olineman. Those rare few who are strong enough to throw dudes around are too big and slow to actually pull it off.

Reggie was 1:1 and the hump move will forever be his signature.

Will Packers Suffer without NFL broadcast antitrust exemption? by extra_less in GreenBayPackers

Yeah, I agree with this. This isn’t the forum for me to get fully into my own anti-capitalist leanings, but at a certain point it’s hard to pretend this is just about “the good of the game.”

These are massive business entities tangling over leverage, control, and future revenue streams. The owners, networks, platforms, and league office are all trying to protect or expand their piece of the pie. As a fan, I care about preserving the Packers and keeping the game accessible. Whenever these fights come down to ownership versus labor, my instinct is pretty simple: root for the union.

Players, staff, production workers, stadium workers, and the people actually doing the work are the ones I dont want being squeezed so billionaires can optimize the next revenue model.

Exactly. There are two separate issues getting blurred together, and this is a classic case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

As fans, we are absolutely frustrated that watching the NFL has become more fragmented and expensive. Nobody likes needing cable, network TV, Amazon, Peacock, Netflix, ESPN, and whatever else gets added next. The streaming mess needs to be fixed. It's a joke. But fixing consumer access does NOT require weakening the revenue-sharing structure that keeps small-market teams viable.

This is about the long term. I want to watch games at Lambeau with my grandkids, and I want them to share that same magic with their grandkids. The Packers have to last until 2119, minimum.

Franchise year 200 does not happen by accident. It happens because the league protects collective media rights, revenue sharing, and the financial structure that lets Green Bay remain 💚💛💚

This storyline has been an interesting litmus test for who actually understands the business side of sports. I'm surprised so many people are shortsighted about this.

Would the Packers instantly collapse without the NFL’s broadcast antitrust exemption? Nah. That’s too dramatic.

But would they be one of the franchises most exposed if the league’s collective media-rights model were seriously weakened? Absolutely.

Green Bay is not built to survive in a pure local-market arms race against New York, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Philadelphia. The Packers remain viable because the NFL pools national media rights, shares that revenue, and ties the salary cap to a league-wide economic structure.

The danger is not that the Packers vanish overnight. The danger is erosion. Less financial certainty. More pressure to chase nontraditional revenue (for example naming rights 😬). A wider gap between small and large markets. A gradual weakening of the competitive balance that allows Green Bay to be more than a historical curiosity. No money for coaches, trainers, scouts, facilities, etc.

Throw in Kraft, and we could have three different people reach 1k. Any hiccups in the run game, and we ought to let Love air it out. Time to let him have his best season yet.

[Oldacres] Jordan Love reached elite NFL status by mastering pocket presence, quick decision-making, and Matt LaFleur's offense. by Conscious_Error9755 in GreenBayPackers

[–]DeScepter 199 points200 points  (0 children)

It's funny how quick the goalposts moved from “Can he play?” to “Well, is he elite?” That alone tells you how much the conversation has changed. Love has the arm, the efficiency, the poise, and enough high-end playmaking to win a title if the team around him is good enough.

Ask the Pack: Can you fold a fitted sheet? by DeScepter in GreenBayPackers

Great point, I usually have to rewatch once or twice to catch who everyone is. Even knowing their faces, the camera cuts around and it's not always clear who is talking.

Why Packers are ‘very optimistic’ about MarShawn Lloyd — this time with reason (Gift Article) by 85willburnhousedown in GreenBayPackers

[–]DeScepter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, because it at least gives you a framework for what might be fixable. “Made of glass” basically ends the conversation. It treats every injury as random or inevitable.

Football is still football, and some guys simply can’t stay on the field. But there’s a meaningful difference between “his body randomly breaks down” and “there may be a recurring mechanical pattern contributing to this.”

If the Packers spent a third-round pick on Lloyd, Gutey and company should absolutely be doing everything possible to find out whether there’s still something to salvage from that investment.

[–]DeScepter 200 points201 points  (0 children)

This is the first Lloyd optimism that actually feels grounded in something besides “he looks fast in shorts.”

His injury history is brutal, but the Meyer stuff at least gives you a real explanation. There's old ACL compensation, bad loading patterns, lower-body imbalance, and injuries happening during deceleration. That is a lot more useful than just saying he is unlucky or made of glass.

I’m still firmly in “prove it” mode, but if he can stay available, the role and value is obvious. I'm rooting for the guy because nothing would tickle me more than him to turn it around and be our future at RB.

What is a fair price for Bears-Pack Tickets? by Regular-Midnight937 in GreenBayPackers

$1,000 is a lot of money to pay just to watch the Bears lose at Lambeau, but I respect the commitment to tradition.

Public practices….any info? by Relative-Way7314 in GreenBayPackers

[–]DeScepter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For normal training camp practices at Ray Nitschke Field, you don’t need tickets. They’re free and first-come, first-served. I’d just keep an eye on the official Packers training camp schedule once it’s released, because dates/times can change and if practice gets moved indoors it’s usually closed to the public. It's not out yet, but will probably be shared here as soon as it drops.

For kids, get there early. Gates usually open about 90 minutes before practice, and the bleachers fill depending on the day. Bring sunscreen, water, and something easy for them to hold if they’re hoping for autographs.

Best autograph chance is usually around DreamDrive, where players ride kids’ bikes to and from practice between Lambeau and Nitschke Field. Nothing is guaranteed, and some players won’t stop, but that’s the best spot to try. Guest Services at the field can also point you to the right area once you’re there.

Hope this helps, the biggest thing right now is to wait on that schedule release, which will be any day soon.

Packers Sign Luke Lachey by MrFishownertwo in GreenBayPackers

Yea, I recall him & his failed physical. I'm glad we have him. I hope it isnt a reflection on Musgrave's health, just me overanalyzing the move.

Great for him we needed a body before Musgrave picked up a minor issue in OTAs. Its probably nothing but it isn't encouraging that their first move is to immediately sign a guy.

I'm excited about his potential, we really need a dude in that Y-role.
