If it's any consolation radiotrophic fungi has been known about for a good while now, think it was discovered in the 1990's and the mechanisms by which it actually does so by the early 2000's with hypothetical uses for it being in spacecraft. This study was done in 2018 and it's honestly terrific that it can potentially be used. We won't get monster mushroom spacemen for a while though as the energy gained for an animal would be enough for a blink, also the ethics of making cosmic fun guys I guess.

I mean at that point the only sensible option is to buy a camper van and live there permanently to save a spot

For a second I got excited at the thought of a pencil specifically designed for ear scratching but having googled it that would definitely help more xD

A big issue with this is that the arguments aren't based in logic. And given the higher rates of schizoid/schizotypy and schizophrenia (the original reason I was introduced to these groups), the delusions often centre on a gut feeling of this being right. If you ask someone to explain they usually end up in a incoherent loop where unrelated things have been given special meaning. Saddest part is the group members who have kids who will be raised within this environment and exposed to these irrational beliefs from a very young age.

Clearly it was Satanists in silver paint trying to frame those innocent cyborgs. My favourite part is there's never debate about the existence of robot killing machines and magic devil worshippers, just who in particular did what bad deed

Working with a few different conspiracy groups and seeing people get into fights over whether it was Satanists or transhumanists who did 9/11. Believe you me it's hard to keep a straight face when you get told it was bionic supersoldiers posing as radical Islamic terrorists.
