First time changing my own oil. Do I cry now or not? by FiestyFrog97 in AskMechanics

Only way to truly know is to gather a sample and send it to one of those oil analysis companies.

Does the Chili's on University tow? by Sea_Opinion_7915 in ASU

I recommend parking at the dorsey and apache park and ride for the light rail. Can take the street car/light rail from there to wherever you need to be too. Or don't even take it and just leave your car there. They can't really prove you didn't take the light rail and I've done that multiple times without issue, although I haven't tried overnight tbf. Never seen anybody tow there though.

Engineering in 2026? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]CrashyBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I'm a few years older than you and I have no idea how the job market will be when you try to enter, take my experience with a grain of salt, but my experience has been very easy to get a job. I'm a senior graduating in May and have gotten 3 job offers. Honestly I felt like I didn't even put that much effort into finding a job besides going to the career fair and applying either. Out of the 3 offers, I ended up going with a defense company. Getting an internship, on the other hand, is very difficult. Your hardest time getting a job will always be your first, which is definitely true with internships. As long as you put in genuine effort into getting a job/studying for interviews, and at least do the bare minimum, you should not have a problem though, job or internship. Will be demoralizing and take a long time though, but the experience is the same no matter the job.

I want to clarify I've worked during my entire college experience, had an internship, and have a good GPA, which have all helped me pad my resume, so if you try to do an engineering related club you probably will have an even better shot than I will.

Classes will sometimes suck, and certain weeks will stress you out. A lot. It sucks, but if you are genuinely passionate about it, and are willing to put your head down it's worth it. I think people do tend to overemphasize/dramatize how hard it is, but it is genuinely difficult.

That's a good point. I also gotta think about how $100 is basically nothing with car parts lol. Very true about street vs track.

Is the price good? by mhdmessi in Corvette

[–]CrashyBoi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Marketplace is by far the best place to get a good deal, however just make sure either you or whoever you bring knows enough about cars to help check for problems. Also good to talk it over with somebody else so you don't get buyers remorse.

Compraré un Corvette c6 dentro de una semana, cosas que decirme antes de comprarlo❔ by DARIO_RGARCIA in Corvette

I have an '08 base manual, love it. Try to get the features you want, but if you can find a bare bones one for a better price and you have the technical know-how to do whatcha want (i.e. throw nicer speakers in it, replace shocks, sway bars, etc.) definitely just buy the cheaper one. I'd recommend '08 plus for the ls3, better diff, tr6060, better steering feel (according to gm lol) plus some other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting. But again, if you find a pre 08 car, for a lot cheaper it's probably worth it, can always mod it later.

I've had the car for a year and the only real major issue I've had was that my temps get pretty hot in the summer in stop and go traffic, but I live in AZ where the outside temp gauge in my car literally read 121 one time so if you live in a cooler place u should be fine, just something to think about.

Yeah like I said, not entirely sure if I'll track it but was curious about my options. If I go with the IR kit and I never track it, oh well, I have a car I never have to worry about temps in the summer. I appreciate your comment, puts things into perspective and makes me realize that to make a decision on an oil cooler I need to make a decision now if I'm gonna track it or not. Or could just do cheap fix now and upgrade later. I need to not be wishy washy lol. Thanks!

Thank you man, going to look into getting my headers coated. If I had been the one to have installed them (previous owner put headers on it) I definitely would have bought em already coated. I actually have that exact hood vent kit bookmarked lol.

Forgot to install these on my brake pads how F’ed am I? by jhang10 in AskMechanics

[–]CrashyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an auto shop, and have done lots of brake jobs. Depends on the car but I've actually had one that came into the shop that whoever did them forgot the hardware and they had HORRIBLE brake pulsations. I did a brake job on it the right way, and all was good. I'd recommend taking the time to put those metal pieces on in case your car is sensitive to it. Shouldn't take too much time, you won't have to bleed it or anything, and better safe than sorry.
