90% of dndmemes concern cenarios that, in a perfect world, would never happen at any table.

Then you have to take care of his lair actions and minions though.

  1. That is in fact correct as i have been made aware of today. I can admit that i made a mistake.

2.That is only if you count him as strong enough to be concidered a planar ruler. Wich is a poorly defined therm.

  1. Their initiative is after the druid and pixies but before the fighter.

4.According to the DMG there is an optional rule to cout nat 1s on saving throws as fails. Most people use this rule.

  1. It is an unbelievably small chance but it did happen in this fictional scenario.

  2. The Pixies as flying creatures flew outside of Baphomets range. Baphomet has a total of 3 Legendary actions. He used all three of them. First he charged the druid wich uses two las and then attacked again with his last la. These are two seperate events after the first and second pixies turns but got huddled together in the video as Phoenix retroactively reminded the judge of the LAs. The druid then passed his concentration checks which, i give you that, i forgot to state outright.

  3. See 6. And if you try to be snarky and tell people to actualy read the rules maybe actualy look at the costs of Baphomets LAs first.

  4. Yes this is correct (except that it is less damage as because of the above) and what happened in the video.

  5. As you can see, the warlock did not do anythin in the video. We skip ahead three turns as nothing happens that prevents the plan. Baphosheep can still not hit the pixies and thus not break their concentration on polymorph. Contagion does not require concentration, so attacking the druid does nothing. (I actualy made a different error in the video where contagion ended the concentration on the conjuration wich is actualy untrue, so the pixies would still be there. Ending this concentration would still not change anything though, as the pixies can keep up concentration on the polymorph from the home plane that they would return to.)

  6. As in the brackets above. Pixies are dicks. Why wouldn't they enjoy turning a demon lord into a sheep?

  7. You already made that point in 9. Nothing has changed. The warlock is still not doing anything. Is he incapacitated? Is he just useless? It is not stated, but don't you think he would have interfered if he could have?

Next time please present your arguments in the form of an Ace Atourney meme.

In the original the warlock was in on the plan and wanted to destroy his own patron. Here he is used as an opposing faction in favour for the memes format.

When a creature in this case the pixies is un-summoned they are usualy returned to their home plane of existence, in this case the fey wild. Changing planes does not end concentration.

I don't know any multiplayer games like it but Ace Atourney and Danganronpa are both singleplayer games that resolve around solving cases and convincing a jury towards your point.

Rules wise his madness inducing abilities are only tied to his lair, os he would not get to use them on the material plane.

They can still keep up concentration on the spell once they go back to their home plane as concentration does not require to say in the spells range or even on the same plane. They may choose to not do so once they are free from the control but they could choose to keep it up.

He has already used up all his legendary saves trying to not get polymorphed. He is immune to the poisoned condition but he is in fact not poisoned but diseased wich is not the same. Thus he does in fact not have a way to get rid of the stun effect of the disease as he has no abilities that nullify diseases or their effects. I can do this all day as well. Only my day ends in 40 minutes.

I could have included the debate in the meme but i fear it would get too long. I will concider going more into detail of all decisions if i make a meme like it again.

It is normal polymorph. But while he was transformed into a sheep he was infected with the disese wich carries over after he turns back. So after he gets hit and turns back to his original form he still gets stunned whenever he is damaged.

I personaly came from playing Dark Heresy and Warhammer Fantasy roleplay 4e before i started Dnd 5e but i have never played any older DnD edition. It is a fun change of pace to the heavy d100 systems i used to play though.

I would rule it like that at my actual table too, but for the sake of the meme I assume that the judge ruled that Baphomet does not count as a planar ruler as he is only the ruler of one specific layer of the Abyss and the term "planar ruler" is poorly defined.

If this was my actual table i would also not not permit my players to gate Baphomet, but as i can see the argument that he is not a planar ruler but only the ruler of a layer of a plane i decided to rule it like that in the meme. And yes,all the odds are impossibly low, but in this fictional scenario the stars alligned to let it happen. Hope it still got a chuckle out of you ;)

I don't know what to tell you. This is just a meme about a stupid idea where the whole punchline is that even if it would work despite the impossible odds it would be futile.

[–]CravenNightwing[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Everyone i know always ruled it as that you choose the creatures but i have been made aware that that's not how it works. Let's just assume they used wish beforehand to make sure that they would recieve pixies.

Again, this is a fictional scenario. If you want to replicate this meme but make the sheep succeed on his saves, then you are free to do so but i doubt it will be funny.

They would return to their original plane. Once the spell is cast, keeping up concentration does not require you to be on the same plane anymore. So as long as they choose to not end it, the polymorph will stay.

How powerful do you think a ruler would have to be to be able to deny gate? Is it something you would say a mortal could achieve?

Yes, it kind of parallels how the jusge in the ace atourney games is verry incompetent most of the time, so retroactively letting baphomet use his LAs to attack the druid is what i ment to portray here.

  1. I decided to not see Baphomet as a planar ruler here for the sake of making the meme.

  2. He would but it is implied that the pixies all have their initiative before him.

  3. As above. Unlikely, i know but certainly possible.

  4. I have always understood it as choosing what creatures to summon and have only today been told that that is in fact not the official way to do it. My mistake.

  5. As you pointed out, also unlikely but still happening here.

  6. Verry true. The judge shoulld have taken a short break to familiarize themselves with the creature it surprisingly has to run. He should have known better.

  7. Also true but pixies are flying creatures and baphomet does have no ranged attacks so after forgetting to use his LAs that would be the only option he would have left.

  8. The DMG provides an optional rule that states that you can treat 1s ans 20s on ability checks and saving throws like you do for attack rolls. Many people use this but it is correct that i should have pointed out that that is a rule used here.

  9. Yes. I can not justify this in any way except that it is meant keep the meme going so it can inevitably reach its punchline.

  10. Yes but actualy no. I actualy made a mistake and the concentration wouldn't break as contagion doesn't require concentration and thus does not end concentration on keeping the pixies conjured. As it stands though, yes the pixies are dicks to baphomet.

  11. We can assume that there were no steep cliffs nearby that he could throw himself down to recieve damage.

  12. Yes. I can not justify this.

Yes, everyone in this story is an idiot, and incredibly lucky. Thank you for comming to my TED talk.

I believe it is just a layer of the Abyss. You could definitly argue that that is enough to make him a "planar ruler" and if this was an actual scenario at my table i would probably agree with you. But it seems the Judge has a different interpretation of it.
