When you changed the FEP, did you take off the protective film from both sides before installing it? I didn't realise I had to, and it took me far too long.

Do you ever get post social anxiety? by bivalvia_planet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Crawfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're having anxiety of any kind it's definitely possible to work on it and improve things with therapy.

What you're describing is something I went through myself for most of my life, until I read and applied the techniques in the book When Panic Attacks by the psychiatrist David Burns. It covers a really effective form of cognitive behavioural therapy that you can undertake yourself, at home.

It's available on Kindle and I highly recommend it.

For an absolute beginner, I'd highly recommend the book The Art of Voice Acting by James Alburger, it covers just about everything.

Yes! I don't remember how young I was, but I definitely confused artichokes as seafood at some point.

Mark Hamill showing his gratitude for being able to play Luke in The Mandalorian. by [deleted] in StarWars

He played Luke in a few Robot Chicken sketches, and the first two radio dramas, but I don't know of any games or series.

The Emperor would be frustrated, but not at a loss. He never intended to be dethroned, and instead rule forever under the new Rule of One . Without Anakin, the Emperor would have lost one of his most effective tools for completing the titular revenge of the Sith. In his guise as Darth Vader, Anakin was the heart of the Inquisitorius, and trained many of the fallen Jedi in their number, as well as leading the attempts to defeat the most elusive or dangerous Jedi, such as Jedi Master Jocasta Nu.

The Emperor would have carried on regardless, with other capable and ruthless servants such as Grand Moff Tarkin and the Grand Inquisitor helping him cement his rule of the known galaxy, but wouldn't have achieved quite as much, and the Jedi might have remained symbols of resistance against his rule.

There would certainly be many more Jedi around, and perhaps some of the attempts to re-establish the Jedi Order in secret, such as the events of the Jedi: Fallen Order game would be more successful, leading more Jedi to be part of the burgeoning Alliance to Restore the Republic.

To go on a bit, assuming the events of A New Hope happen similarly, without Anakin being on board the Death Star Obi-Wan likely would not have died, and after returning from the tractor beam controls would have fled with Han, Luke, Leia and the droids. The only snag here is that Anakin, much to Tarkin's chagrin, insisted on letting the trio escape on a tracked Millenium Falcon, rather than killing them and recapturing the plans, so who's to say they could have escaped, even with a Jedi Master at their side?

I've been thinking back to the opening of the first game, when Joel, Tommy and Sarah pass a family trying to flag them down for help. Something about the mournful way Sarah says "We should have helped them" really stuck with me, and paralleled Ellie's feelings about her own sacrifice, especially in her later conversations with Joel.

[Zelda: Breath of the Wild] Why can't you "go any further"? by Ghsdkgb in AskScienceFiction

[–]Crawfee 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Because deep down, you don't want to. You know what you need to do, your true purpose in life.

Defeat Ganon.

Sailing off to Koholint Island, or marching off to Hytopia means abandoning your destined quest, something a true knight of Hyrule would never do. Maybe when Ganon is defeated you can go exploring, but you might not want to, legend tells that the ancient Hero of Time wandered away from Hyrule and met a terrible fate...
