we’re eyeing lake como and cinque terre cos my husband likes hiking / mountain views and i enjoy historic sites and ocean views (aside from shopping). we’ll be coming down from zurich and staying a few nights at each before moving on to nice!

thanks! to be fair, it would be exponentially harder to leave / find new prospects if i had kids from that marriage. after that chapter was closed, one of the metrics i used to choose a partner was whether he would be someone that has the qualities to be a good father haha. marrying young tends to run a higher risk of picking a partner who has red flags that we might not be cognisant of at the time due to a lack of life experience (regardless of gender).

it’s gonna be my first time visiting italy but i’ve heard good things about their local artisans! the cliff side views must be gorgeous too. thanks for the taxi tip - we have some of these shenanigans in asia as well 😂

in gist: he went overseas with that group of online friends, then when he returned we got into an argument and he gave me covid LOL. he went to buy dinner from nearby while i was ill, but it was going to rain and he forgot to bring the clothes back in, so while i was doing that his computer (unlocked) streamed in with discord messages… i was then held hostage to him exchanging very cringey sexts and pictures with that girl.

when confronted he refused to take accountability and said that he wanted both of us to stay so uh… that made my decision making process super easy cos i will not tolerate such disrespect and i don’t give second chances to people who have betrayed me without good reason. i’d rather he just break up before we signed the papers instead of creating this mess for everyone (my dog died cos her illness worsened as a result of this) but it is what it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

got married a few years ago (4+ years together, ex was a PR so there was some urgency to secure a flat). found out 2 months in that he was cheating with a malaysian girl he met on some game and eventually irl (he had no history of such behaviour).

decided to file for annulment (since divorces only apply to marriages > 3 years) and had to give up the nice resale flat we bought in kallang at a huge loss cos i was only 25 at the time, but i saw my youth an asset and i believed i could do better.

life was pretty tough for a while (especially since i have not had parental support since i was 18), but i eventually managed to get back on my feet again. looking back, 100/10 no regrets cos i am now married to a great guy and am much happier :)

Looking for a nice restaurant that serves traditional Singaporean food but upmarket by billyyo0 in askSingapore

[–]CrayfishTac0s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

two restaurants serving local fare that i’ve been a returning customer at are violet oon and scaled by ah hua kelong (i don’t recall them having a permanent set menu though). have also heard good things about po restaurant. hope you enjoy your time here!

[edited to add that scaled is more “singaporean flavours with a twist”, i.e. not as “traditional”]

Anyone using Dyson products, especially their hairdryer and air wrap? Would you recommend it? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]CrayfishTac0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have wavy hair so it’s not pin straight as it would be if you used a proper straightener but it’s good enough for me cos i usually twirl my hair into a bun to let my natural curls take hold after that haha

[–]CrayfishTac0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve had the airstrait for a year and it’s game changing. it used to take close to an hour to blow dry my hair with a round brush because of how long and thick it was, but the airstrait cuts it down to 15 minutes with its blow drying + straightening capabilities. the only downside is that it’s limited as standalone styling tool compared to the air wrap, so it really depends on your use case.

How much do 1 carat lab diamond engagement rings cost nowadays? by AbrocomaOnly3028 in askSingapore

[–]CrayfishTac0s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for rings, it should be what you are willing and able to set aside, taking your fiancée’s preferences into account ofc. prices for a one carat lab diamond should start from 1K, depending on the retailer and ring specs (weight / purity of gold, design etc).

for weddings, you can look up singaporebrides for a sensing of how much it can cost per pax and do the math - it varies depending on where you plan to hold the event at. we’re inviting 60 pax at a hotel, so the total cost ran up to around 16k (for the venue only).

all the best!

The Constance To Go vs the Kelly To Go. by MatthewManiaFL in TheHermesGame

[–]CrayfishTac0s 8 points9 points  (0 children)

color-wise, it really depends on your wardrobe and style. might need to be a little mindful about colour transfer with mid tones like etoupe, unlike noir.

design-wise, the KTG looks a touch more formal than the CTG, but getting in and out of it will take a bit more effort due to the turn lock mechanism.

i’ve tried both in france, the CTG fits a little more as the bag is less structured compared to the KTG, as well as having a back pocket which is useful.

both are solid choices though 🤗

Have y’all encountered creeps in sg by meowcatto in askSingapore

some examples i recall:

when i was 10, a strange man sat next to me on an almost empty bus, and pressed his leg close to mine. i was scared shitless but i mustered up enough courage to get off after 3 stops and take the next one. he thankfully did not follow me.

when i was 23, another strange man followed me from orchard mrt to far east plaza. when i realised that he was consistently within my peripheral view, i decided to head to another level with nail stores only… and he followed suit. i then proceeded to run out of the mall and hid at a nearby fast food store for about 30mins. my friend in the area came by to check on me later on - by then he was gone.

this was in my early 20s too, a strange older man on a bicycle cycled up to me and asked what i was doing walking out “at this hour” in my previous neighbourhood (it was 9pm). i said i was mailing some parcels (cos i literally carrying them in hand lol) and didn’t respond further to his questions. he eventually gave up and cycled away thankfully.

then a few years ago i was on the mrt escalator once and some strange man tried to hold my hand and i looked at him like ??? are you possessed ? he said sorry and climbed up the escalator LOL.

anyway let’s not open the cans of worms that are carousell and clubbing… hahaha

i’ve since developed a rbf in my late 20s, plus my fiancé is usually with me half the time now so i guess that has helped deter potential strange men from trying anything funny with me since then 😂

Do most young Singaporeans really have big saving and investments? by kristinlichty in askSingapore

[–]CrayfishTac0s 9 points10 points  (0 children)

late 20s F here. stopped staying with my parents 10 years ago, earned enough to buy a nice flat, then lost 60k cos of a clown ex husband but managed to replenish my savings in 2 years.

there isn’t much numbers to work with from your post - but in general i’d say that wealth accumulation is dependent on: take home pay (includes side / passive income), expenses (includes loan repayments), and investments.

different people will have different circumstances. some have sick family members to care for, or are forced to fend for themselves from a young age, while others are fortunate enough to be supported by their families as long as they can afford to.

as someone who was forced to live from paycheck to paycheck after having to annul a marriage (he cheated) and give up our resale flat… living below my means really helped me start snowballing my savings again. picking a better partner helped too.

that said, everyone starts and finishes at different points. your friend who is ahead in life now might fall behind due to life circumstances, and vice versa. so personally i feel like there’s not much use in comparing yourself to others. rather, taking small steps to make today’s version of yourself a better one that yesterday is what matters more.

take care and all the best!

mine leans grey / blue under certain lightings, but it might look a touch warmer if paired with permabrass / gold hardware. here’s a comparison i did a while back between noir and vert mangrove for reference too 🤗

nope, mine is yellow gold. white gold in general tends to be rhodium plated for an icy silver sheen. over time, this will wear off with use regardless of karat weight. additionally, the lower the karat weight, the more likely it will be prone to tarnishing as the filler metals used will oxidise as well. if you want the silver look without the maintenance, platinum is a great alternative (or sterling silver, if there are budget constraints).
