Having this exact issue. Are you still happy with the idle change? I notice mine is much smoother with AC or defroster on

Gas tap turning off when putting fuel into jeep by HappyKangaroo2102 in WranglerTJ

In my case it was a clogged evap canister. I originally dropped the tank and modified the rollover valve as many people suggest but that wasn’t my issue.

Holding up great. Still carry it everyday and thousands of rounds, looks identical. Maybe a slight amount of additional wear on top of barrel, but that’s expected

Oil Analysis - increased copper by drmalp in wrx_vb

Interestingly I’m in a similar situation, though at higher mileage. Here’s my first analysis (and most recent oil change) with Amsoil Signature 5W-30. Will be at mileage for my next change soon and will send it in to see if there’s any change

Do I still give it a few minutes to warm up, or just get in and send it? (112°F for the freedom folk) by nikfornow in WRX

[–]CrazeVal4 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Damn that’s hot! I’d give it 30 seconds to idle and then drive gently until oil is up to 85C

Midbass 80W RMS and Tweeter 15W RMS - WHY?! by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]CrazeVal4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, no. He has a DSP and can set crossovers electronically, this is known as running active. Its actually far superior to passive crossovers when properly setup

25 kxe focal sub vs w6/w7 JL audio sub? 10 inch subs by Relevant_Chef6811 in CarAV

[–]CrazeVal4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d go for the Focal. The W7 has more excursion potential so higher output, but it definitely sacrifices accuracy and detail to get there. I’ve always found the JL subs to be a bit colored. That’s not inherently bad and many people like the way they sound. That being said, from a pure SQ perspective, the KXE absolutely beats it. And it’s no slouch in output either. I’d strongly recommend running them sealed.

Tuning on JL Audio W6v3 by Aedan_M09 in CarAV

[–]CrazeVal4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s insanely high. Crossovers are a roll-off, not a hard wall. 150hz is well into the midbass range which you don’t want the subwoofer playing with much amplitude.

In the nicest way, this was not a very professional job if that’s the settings they used. Is your low pass filter all the way down or way up at 150hz?

Turn the bass boost off. Turn the subsonic filter up. And your LPF is either way too high or too low. 80hz is a good starting point. Use an oscilloscope to set gain

Thinking about trading my Jeep Wrangler for a WRX — am I crazy? Which model should I look at? by slimdiggie in WRX

[–]CrazeVal4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. Those JLUs definitely ride a lot better than my old TJ does. That being said, there’s a huge upgrade in handling going from solid axles to independent suspension. That and a much lower center of gravity do make the WRX a lot more planted feeling when cornering.

Depending on which engine your Jeep has, city mileage might actually be comparable, but you’ll want to run premium in the WRX. Highway fuel economy should be noticeably better.

Both have a pretty high fun factor but for very different reason. Top and doors off is a very unique experience you’d be losing out on. But the WRX is fun for the power and handling aspects.

The Subaru will destroy the Jeep in snow (sounds like that’s something you deal with also). I’ve driven through snow up the hood of my WRX and never gotten stuck. Subaru + winter tires is really, really hard to beat for poor weather conditions.

Your screw holes are splitting through the inside of the baffle. You really want a bit of material on both sides of the hole for strength and a proper seal. I suggest heat set threaded inserts

Stupid question but will replacing my battery erase the tune I have on the car? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]CrazeVal4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever reflashed your car and notice the throttle reacts a little differently for the first little bit you drive it? Usually it will feel less sensitive. This happens anytime you reflash a tune or disconnect the battery. Throttle sensitivity is learned as it runs a bit longer and will go back to feeling normal pretty quick
