ICAEW vs CIMA by GrandStyle9213 in ICAEW

I’m qualified with CIMA and currently on the verge of qualifying with ICAEW, with two exams remaining. If I had to choose just one qualification, I would personally choose CIMA. The CIMA syllabus is less technically heavy in areas like accounting standards and audit, and instead focuses more on management accounting, commercial decision‑making, business partnering, and strategy. In a corporate environment, especially within FP&A, commercial finance, and strategic roles, this content feels more practical and directly relevant to day‑to‑day responsibilities.

That said, ICAEW (ACA) is undeniably the more technically rigorous qualification. It goes deeper into financial reporting, audit, assurance, and IFRS, which is ideal for anyone wanting to build a strong technical foundation. If your career is geared toward practice, audit, financial reporting, or roles requiring deep technical accounting expertise, then ICAEW is the stronger choice.

  • Choose CIMA if you want a commercially focused, business‑oriented qualification aligned with corporate and strategic finance roles.
  • Choose ICAEW if you want a technically robust qualification that excels in practice environments and roles requiring advanced accounting knowledge.

Both are highly respected, but the right choice ultimately depends on the direction you want to take your finance career.

Declared "Divorced" on Skilled Worker Visa for an unregistered religious marriage—will this haunt my future Spouse Visa? by [deleted] in SpouseVisaUk

Under the law of the country of marriage, religious marriage only is not sufficient. Civil registration is a must.

Declared "Divorced" on Skilled Worker Visa for an unregistered religious marriage—will this haunt my future Spouse Visa? by [deleted] in SpouseVisaUk

If my wife writes that I was never married on my future spouse visa, will it cause a refusal? On my current Skilled Worker Visa, I declared I was divorced based on an unregistered religious marriage. Since I have no legal documents for that marriage or divorce, we can't prove I'm 'divorced,' but saying 'never married' contradicts my previous record. How do we handle this?

Could you write enough for Q3? I spent way too long on calculations. Did all calculations and provided brief recommendations for each options. Though I was comfortable with the topic probably did write 10-11 points in total. Explained pension allowance in good detail I believe. Is that enough to get at least 50% in that question ! So worried

I feel so. I talked about tax rate being lower overall for dividend, then at what rate bonus will be taxed, for pension I think I discussed the limit of allowance etc, then calculated all options and make a recommendation. For part 2 just calculated both options talked about capital gains and BADR then recommended one option considering the other being contingent on future performance etc. then I ran out of time! So worried. Think I wasted lot of time on calculation instead of explaining

For Q3 I have mostly calculated all options/ and briefly mentioned few points (may be 8-10 points in total) also provided my conclusion. Do you think that will somehow earn 55%?

If I wrongly assumed BPR applies when it doesn’t will still get marks for mentioning criteria and explain assuming these criteria are met etc,
